MarkV Timers and Counters Inaccurate
It's been a VERY long time, but I recall there was a not-so-well-known feature of the Mark V operator interface that had a special card in the CPU box that pulses could be connected to and used to increment counters. If I recall correctly, there was a configuration file that was used to say how...

Gas Turbine IBH Valve Opening Without Any Command
No intelligible information. You say you have data to show that the valve opens all by itself. But your "checkout" says everything is okay. Either the data is bad, or the "checkout" is bad. If the turbine tripped, there is an alarm that will be useful in troubleshooting the problem...

Changing the Fuel in GTG GE Frame 9E
m.abdi, What is the hydraulic pressure before and during the fuel transfers? I forgot to ask about the hydraulic accumulator; is it properly charged and are the valves in the proper position?

Mark V HMI Fail Change PC to Dell gx110
Emad, So, I had some time while listening to windbags on a conference call today to look up a Dell GX110 PC, and I presume it's an Optiplex GX110. Those are pretty old PCs, with P3 and P4 microprocessors, and so it's likely that the "HMI" you are referring to is one running IDOS and NOT...

Changing the Fuel in GTG GE Frame 9E
m.abdi, What kind of combustion system is in use on the GE-design Frame 9E at your site? How often do you transfer fuels? Are fuel transfers initiated manually, or automatically (such as when gas fuel supply pressure drops too low; or when liquid fuel supply pressure drops too low)? If...

Reduced Power Operations of a Baseload Plant
Bleed heat and anti-icing--sometimes called Inlet Air Heating--are two different functions, though they may use the same control valve and manifold. Bleed heat is (still) an absolutely terrible name for the function it provides--protecting the compressor when the IGV angle drops below 57 DGA...

Persistent Mark VIe Alarm
Anand123, So, where are you looking for Diagnostic Alarms? And, when you use ToolboxST to check the PreVote value of IGV servo currents, what is the value of IGV servo current for <R>, <S> and <T>?

Mark V HMI Fail Change PC to Dell gx110
Emad, TCI doesn't always work with every version of BIOS on any PC. Sometimes interrupt conflicts can cause problems. Unfortunately, I'm no expert on interrupts or interrupt conflicts so if that's the problem I can't offer any help. Have you looked in the TCI Control Panel Applet and made...

Intermittent Seismic Vibrations Increase at GE Frame 5 Turbine Compressor Casing
Wow. Oil coking in a beating housing could probably be detected by an analysis of the L.O. as it would surely result in suspended solids in the oil. I'm presuming you are referring to a situation where the oil is overheating and resulting in the formation of solids. Can you explain how that...

Unit Shows "Manual Shutdown" on FSNL and Load Less Than 1MW
There is something amiss with the Enumerated Data file and/or display configuration for the Status Field messages. Without being able to see the CSP (Control Sequence Program), the ENUMDATA.DAT file and the display file(s) it's really impossible to say what exactly is the problem and how to fix it.

Gas Turbine Mist Eliminator
Left uncooled, L.O. will get so hot that it quickly turn to vapours in the bearing housings and it can be easily ignited especially in the exhaust area (research 'flash point'). This could also occur in the L.O. tank, also, simply by a hot enough surface; again research 'flash point.' The...

Relation Between Steam Turbine Inlet pressure and Steam Generator Outlet Pressure
>Is there any relationship between steam pressure at the >outlet of Boiler & steam pressure before steam turbine >control valve & or stop valve? The answer is yes; as boiler outlet pressure increases, so should steam turbine "inlet pressure." And, as boiler outlet pressure decreases, so...

GE Mark VI as DCS for the Whole Power Plant
Achraf, Just about any programmable logic controller (PLC), or programmable action controller (PAC, the new politically correct way to refer to programmable controllers), can be used for BOP controls. Mark VIe is a purpose-built control system--built to control turbines, and it has been...

Curiousone, Hmmm.... I doubt if your Customer could persuade GE to do a RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on EX2000 cards since they no longer support that technology. However, one of the advertisers here on control.com, Gas Turbine Controls (GTC) does do card repairs and they MIGHT be able to...

Failure to Ignite After Offline Water Wash
You haven't told what fuel you're trying to start on, or want kind of combustion the unit has (DLN, or???). From the (little) information provided, it sounds as if there might be water in the low points of the Agonizing Air piping between the AA Compressors and the AA manifold in the turbine...
