ABB logic controller AC450 and AC110
Rob, thanks for the clarification, I wish I had your history with these systems! I maintain a package of ac160 and ac410 controllers. The platforms have both had excellent reliability and I like the programming atmosphere of both. I see the day of migration coming in time from those who only...

ABB logic controller AC450 and AC110
Dear panthripu, there is another poster here who seems to know quite a lot about ABB systems, so he may answer more correctly than myself. My understanding is that at least one of these control systems was previously owned by another company before it was acquired by ABB. The AC400 family...

VSVO card in Mk6 controller
Dear Eskay, You are basically correct. When you select download the default is that the configuration only is downloaded. By selecting "firmware", it will also select the configuration. The sequence is that the firmware will be downloaded and then once complete it will download the...

VSVO card in Mk6 controller
Eskay, with the turbine shut down I would suggest shutting down all cores, R, S, T and X, Y, Z. Then swap the cards from slot 7 to slot 5 in "T" c ore. Then power up all cores. Once all cores are up and synchronized (All LED's flashing in sync) then you can select MKVI TMR and right click...

VSVO card in Mk6 controller
Dear Eskay, if the cards in TMR rack slot #7 are truly spare, and I would make sure that there is no device using these "Spare" cards. Then why not simply trade cards from the slot #5 of "T" core to slot #7 of "T" core? If the excitation voltage of the card in slot #5 of "T" core is failed...

Speed of Synchronous Generator
Dear Namatimangan08, I have been following this post since it started now almost 2 years ago from a simple question, "I have confusion as how increase in electrical load lead to decrease in generator rpm? And why if we increase the generator rpm (by injecting more fuel in gas turbines)...

Wheelspace Temperatures
DRP, the reasons that come to mind for me in seeing a rise in wheelspace temperatures after a major inspection are either incorrect tolerances of componenets, or a restriction in cooling air supply. In your case you could have wiring issues due to the controls upgrade that could be the cause...

Hydraulic Ratchet problem
Will, thanks again for the feedback. Our two units were commissioned in 2005 and run 24/7. We will be doing a major on our first unit this fall and are planning to pull the TQ and install a new unit which we purchased as a spare that will be rotated out at each major. Most likely we won't see...

CPD transmitters
Prasath, more information as to the type of turbine and type of control system would be helpful to most correctly answer your question. But the simple answer to your question is that you should NOT use a smart transmitter to replace a CPD transmitter on any GE Frame or aero gas turbine...

Gas Turbine Exhaust frame blower
Mehul, I guess it depends on what you are really asking. "can a Frame 6B turbine run with only one exhaust frame blower" Technically yes, but I do not believe that was the way the system was designed. And you need to review your application code to understand how logic was configured for...

Reduced Gas Turbine Power Output
Kyle, this is a very interesting situation to say the least. Things just don't add up in my mind. If CPD is truly 20 psi higher than usual then I would not be looking at IBH valve or CBV's. They could not have this much effect on CPD if they wanted to. The fact that CPD is up and...

Meaning of TMR in mARK-Vie system
Wow Margie, I can't say that I completely love GE but your comment seems somewhat harsh. A good explanation from you of the differences of GE TMR VS other manufacturers would be very welcome. Or at least a description of what you think GE did wrong!

function of IBH in GE gas turbines
Dear AK, I think you understand the concept correctly as far as IBH and inlet cooling for power augmentation. IBH is used to decrease compressor mass flow. This allows for lower unit turndown, the ability to produce lower power output, while still maintaining low emissions. Also as...

function of IBH in GE gas turbines
Dear PAWAN, I can give you a quick explanation of the operation of IBH as it relates to GE Heavy Duty gas Turbines, how it operates on other manufacturers machines I can't say. Simply, IBH is a way to decrease compressor efficiency and reduce mass flow through the compressor. Inlet bleed...

GE 7 transfers from premix to extended lean firing mode
Dear LT, good to hear back from you. For your comments I offer the following as I know it. I have never seen a combustion dynamics monitoring (CDM) system installed on a Frame 7EA DLN1 machine. My understanding of the 7ea DLN1 was that dynamics were not an issue, as long as fuel splits...

CPD transmitter failure
Dear Sardar9, I don't think I can do the job of explaining the way that CSA would, but I will give it a quick try. In the GE heavy duty gas turbine the attempt is to control fuel into the turbine to control emissions, protect hardware components, and maximize heat and or megawatt output...

CPD transmitter failure
Dear JK, I don't know if there is a single answer to your question. I think a lot depends on the type of control system and the vintage of the machine and type of combustion system. Obviously CPD is more important in a DLN combustion system than with an older diffusion burn system. I...

Control constants for Frame 6 & 7
Dear sameralberto, the values you list are not control constants but actual values that are direct inputs or computed values. You do not say what type of control system you are dealing with, I assume possibly MKV. I would suggest having a good look at the manuals for the units you are...
