Load Gear Oil Leakage GE 6B Gas Turbine
Dear EserBP, I am not very familiar with the 6B units but will offer these suggestions and questions. On the units I am familiar with there is typically some sort of mist eliminator system, that draws a slightly negative pressure on the oil system, does your 6B have this type of system...

Compressor Blow Off Valve
Dear Paragkumar, I am not suggesting that it is a good idea to continue running with compressor bleed valves that are leaking or are not fully closed. But I do not believe that you should be concerned about damage to the hot gas parts. The loss of compressor air through the bleed valves...

L63ET1H Switch trouble
Dear Mark V, that sounds like the most logical way to handle the situation, minimizing the risk, until you are able to take the unit offline. Your unit does sound like the typical configuration using two redundant switches and a single pressure transmitter. Logic is built that requires both...

EX2K connection and questions
Dear Jose, sorry but I cannot send the manuals by email. On the Controls Connect site I just entered 6120 into the search bar and the manual came right up. For the step response I just use the EX2K front panel in parameter mirror mode. EE3781 which is the ASP@EX variable is used to...

EX2K connection and questions
Dear Jose, I would suggest you review the EX2K manuals GEH-6120 and GEH-6121. If you do not have these manuals then I suggest joining GE Controls Connect where these manuals and many more are available. You should be able to connect to the EX2K with toolbox without using an external cable...

L63ET1H Switch trouble
Dear Mark V, typically there are two exhaust pressure switches and possibly a transmitter to measure pressure in the exhaust collector. Usually the signals from the switches are inverted so that when exhaust pressure is normal the contact input is true, but the logic signal to trip is false...

Explosion proof limit switches
Dear Sandy, I do not think you can assume that just because the compressor bleed valves are located outside the turbine package that they are not in an explosive environment. You would need to reference GE or site documentation to identify the different hazard class zones around the turbine...

EX2000 lost communication with Mark VI
Dear Ali, I would be looking at the ACNA board and all the coaxial cables from the ACNA board to the local panel and to the UC2000 controller(the part in your photo). I would also look at the cable that goes from the ACNA to the main controller card. If possible remove and reseat all these...

GE EX2000 Fault Codes
Dear GEWannabe, GEH-6121 is the Startup, Adjustment, and Troubleshooting guide for the EX2000 and has a listing of the fault codes. I must admit that the descriptions sometimes leave me asking more questions than they answer, but its a start. My suggestion would be to sign up for the GE...

Fire protection L30CC alarm
Dear MARK V, it would be very helpful to others trying to help you if you provide specific information as the type of turbine, year installed, control system in use, etc. In this case it would be helpful if you specify the make and model of fire system in use because otherwise it is up to...

GAS LEAK TEST 9FA DLN 2.6+
Dear JP, I will be reviewing code I have for a newer 7FA. According to the code I have, I believe your understanding of the logic is not quite correct, but I want to take the time to put together a correct interpretation of the logic as I understand it. Unless someone beats me too it...

GAS LEAK TEST 9FA DLN 2.6+
Dear JP, Not all controller code is the same so this may not be 100% applicable to your unit. There are typically two tests that are ran as part of the GasLeakTest task. One test is ran to check that the Stop/Ratio valve is not leaking by, and or the Aux. stop valve if equipped. The...

Tripping Security of GE Frame 5 Gas Turbine on GCV Reference and Feedback Difference
Dear Mohsin Raza, to add to MK6TA's comments. When a valve command vs actual position differs by more than a certain percent, then the fuel/water/steam or whatever the process, is not flowing in the proper amount per the calculation of logic designed for the system. In some machines, like...

Frame V Turbine Compartment temperature Setting
Dear DNA, I am not sure exactly which switch you are looking for a setting on. The title of your post says turbine comp't temperature setting, but then another part of the post lists 26BA-1, and lastly in your post it lists 26QA-1, so I'm a bit confused. A device spec I have for a vintage...

GE Proximetor vibration
Dear Kamel, My advice is to use the proximitor page of the HMI as just another "tool" for you to judge the health of your machine, much like the seismic page of the HMI. I do not believe I have seen anyone try to diagnose a vibration problem using either of these pages of information. As...
