Provision of Auxiliary Hydraulic Pump
FSX, and CSA. I will work to get some part numbers for the pumps that I am familiar with. The pumps I am familiar with are manufactured by Hartmann hydraulics. I have seen these installed and in use on frame 5's using a hydraulic pump driven from the accessory gear and one from an AC motor...

Instrument Air
Tom, I have been to and work at a site that uses CPD for instrument air purposes. It works well as long as you have a dryer capable of processing the air needed. If you are just trying to supply air to the turbine, that should be no problem. Obviously you will need to evaluate the...

Suicide Relay in MarkVIe ToolboxST
Dear Rokan, from the GE manual, GEH-6721D Mark VIe Control System Guide Volume II, the following description of the operation of the suicide relay for each analog output for the PAIC. "Each analog output circuit also includes a normally open mechanical relay to enable or disable operation...

7 FA Inlet Bleed heating
Tom just to echo what CSA had to say. What you all do with the machine is your choice. IMHO even if you had an LTSA or CSA with GE, if you choose to break the machine, they will be glad to charge you to fix it. Right? But seriously as far as inlet bleed heat(IBH) goes, its there for two...

Interfacing with a GE Mark VI
Bob, most power plant site I have seen that are using GE gas turbines and an Ovation DCS are using the GE "GSM" data to communicate. Ovation controllers can talk directly to any GE HMI configured to run GSM data. I have not personally setup a MKVI "E", but have worked with several sites...

Going to Premix Mode from Lean Mode
So Abdi, slowly we are learning more about your problem, as CSA has said the more information you can provide, the better we can try to help. You indicate that the unit is attempting to transfer from Lean-lean to premix. Flame is being extinguished in the primary zone when the primary gas...

LM6000 Sprint Simple Cycle HP Sprint
Dear Jamup, I can tell you from experience that LP sprint is more effective than HP sprint as another user has said, but the only reason is that the injection schedule for HP sprint is far less than that of LP sprint. I like you and CSA wish that there was more documentation out there, and...

GE7fa Turbine Roof Quick Connect
We have done the same thing you speak of for our 2 7EA machines for the roof of the turbine compartment, load comparment and other areas that require romoval for turbine activities. We have mounted junction boxes on the roof with terminal strips for wiring. This has worked well for wiring for...

Mark VI VPRO Failure Caused Unit Trip
Dear Chris, or GE Controls Galore, think you made a name change? From reviewing the alarm report I have these questions and comments? What happened at 1304 that caused the VCMI diagnostics for all cores? What happened at 1311 that caused the alarm xmit failure, temperature deviation, and...

Mark VI VPRO Failure Caused Unit Trip
Dear Chris, I shall wait to hear what CSA and Otised have to say in this situation, but for my part I can say this. I have had multiple failures of VPRO's with no unit trip. Without having your .m6b file and interconnect drawings it is difficult to say why you saw the alarms for for AC...

Extracting air from Gas Turbine
Dear DRP, Unfortunately I do not have any measurement of the quantity of compressed extracted air we are using. I know that the amount supplied from the CTG varies as the load on the CTG is raised or lowered. Our instrument air source provides air to all control valves and instrumentation...

Extracting air from Gas Turbine
Dear DRP, we operate 2 Frame 7EA machines and are using 17th stage extraction air for plant air service. We have the CTG feed in parallel with plant air compressors. We have a backpressure regulator valve on the feed from the gas turbines so that they are only supplying air when compressor...

Mark VI/Windows 7 Migration
Glad to hear things went well with your testing. The vendor I use for card repair is Powergenics. I have also gotten pricing from GTC but have not purchased anything from them yet. BTW I recently upgraded a machine from a standard hard drive to a SSD. What an incredible difference in boot...

Bearing Sealing Air Pressure
Dear Oluwafemi, I do not know if there is an optimal or ideal pressure for bearing sealing air on your Frame 6B. I will give you my experience on the 7EA that I maintain. The general idea I think is to provide sealing and cooling air for the bearing seals to prevent leaks. The bearing...

GE Frame 7EA Loss of Flame/TripOil
Stephen, I am still trying to get my head around your trip oil system, I wish I had a oil schematic, I am more familiar with the low pressure systems. I am going to look at some of the drawings I have to try and better understand your system. The two things that come to mind for me are...

GTG starting clutches
I have assisted with installations of the SSS clutch on some older Frame 5 units replacing the original jaw style clutch. The SSS design has been very reliable since installation. GE uses a SSS on most of the 7FA machines for the turning gear as well.

IBH for DLN 1.0 Premix turndown
Dear SB, typically the operation of IBH based on the position of the inlet guide vanes. This assumes that you are operating some design of dry low Nox machine. The purpose of the inlet guide vanes and IBH is to reduce total air mass flow through the compressor at reduced loads. This...

fuel gas heating in 7fa
Dear hulaimi, actually some 7EA machines do have heated fuel, but not as many as the 7FA machines. Heating of the gas fuel has two benefits. Firstly it increases the overall efficiency of the machine if there is a waste source of heat that can be used, typically HRSG feedwater. Some sites...

Mark VI/Windows 7 Migration
Dear GJRS, I am running Toolbox and Cimplicity on a VM with no problems, basically created a VM using a backup of one of the stations from Aronis. As you and your co-workers know it is important to have a strong base machine running a fast processor and plenty of ram. 99% of the time the...
