Frozen Vibration Readings at Mark VI
GE issued PSIB (Product Service Information Bulletin) PSIB 20160913A-R1 back in 2016 for this same issue. At the time the PSIB was released GE was still in the discovery stage of identifying the issue. The PSIB refers to TIL-1623 about frozen analog inputs related to a bad batch of A/D...

Mark VI Trip Log Question
Kim, I often assume too many things so just in case lets be sure I understand what you have. I assume you have a plant that was originally constructed with several MKVI controllers, and your HMI's at the time were either windows 2000, or windows XP. Your triplogs and triploglive files...

Windows 2000 Drivers for HMI Running Cimplicity
I do not have any special drivers or software. I have virtualized many older HMI's like this specifically GE HMI's running windows NT, windows 2000 and Windows XP. There are little "Tweaks" needed for each version, but using VMware I have had excellent success. I have done this for systems...

Reduced Power Operations of a Baseload Plant
Bill, If you and your operators are used to operating at Base Load or Temperature Control mode, then I understand they might not be familiar with what is happening at this point. And there is a lot of terminology to digest and understand. Basically the machine has to be in some sort of...

Reduced Power Operations of a Baseload Plant
Bill, I don't have a huge amount of time to write as we are in an outage so I will just write some quick bullets to your questions. For DLN1 and DLN1+ there are several modes of combustion that are all controlled by TTRF1 which is the calculated temperature of the gases as they reach the 1st...

Diagnostic alarms in Z VPRO
Dear Partyman, CSA has given some great information and suggestions for diagnosis. I would like to offer a few comments. Each VPRO is supplied 125VDC from the PDM, it has its own internal power supplies to generate 5VDC and 28VDC. So it is not dependent on any control cores or other power...

DlN1 Extended Lean Lean
Dear CSA and KHE, I will wait and see if the original poster provides more information before going too in depth with logic. KHE, it would help us if you could try to explain how familiar you are with the operation of the gas turbine itself, and more importantly to your question the general...

GE Mark VIe Lock-out
Dear BlueGene, the somewhat generic answer to your question is that most LM=Land Marine aero derivative gas turbines require a scheduled shutdown sequence. Part of this shutdown sequence is typically a crank period that allows turbine rotating and non-rotating components to cool down at a...

DlN1 Extended Lean Lean
Dear KHE, here are my comments, short and long. "Is this a danger to the machine?" Yes=short answer. Long Answer=The machine is not really designed for long periods of operation in lean-lean, or extended lean-lean operation. The assumed operation of a machine using the DLN1 style of...

MarkVie Trends
Belal_Mahdi, The information you are asking for should already be part of your triplog files if they were properly configured when the plant was commissioned. There are files created every hour that are part of the "Triplog Live". These files are created and stored every 1 hour and are a...

Mark VI Redundancy Test
Dear RRA, Thanks very much for taking the time to reply and provide feedback. As you say hopefully this will help someone in the future and you can feel better about system functionality should a core experience a failure. Glad you were able to solve the issue!!!

Ground Issues on MK-5=>MK-6e Migration
Mike, are you seeing the actual split change as noted by using a voltmeter? Or just seeing the displayed split change on the HMI? Is this a MKV migration? Replacement of the MKV cores with MK6E controllers, but still using the original TB's? Or a full rip-replace to full MK6E? I have...

Turbine Bearing Temperature and Plant Blackout
George, Without seeing your logic I can't say that your machine will operate like other GE machines I have worked with. But that being said, the other GE machines I have worked on have logic that will run the DC pump every 16 minutes, for 3 minutes, once the shaft is at zero speed if any...

Bleed Valve Solenoid Polarity
There is no polarity for the wiring of 20CB if this is the standard 20CB solenoid manufactured by Laurence or Leslie Controls. White wires connect to positive and negative of the 125 VDC and green to ground or earth. Hope this helps.

DCS Ovation
With the Ovation system most often you will be "Loading" the controller. A load is required when points or logic are added or modified. A download to the controller is only typically needed when the controller is "Cleared", if flash cards are being replaced, or if some new type of I/O device...

Mark VI Redundancy Test
First off RRA I have to say good job on the fact that you perform a TMR check after any maintenance activity. The benefits of the TMR architecture are many times just assumed but never tested. And as you have found there can be issues even with a properly running system. I would ask for a...

Learning GE Mark VIe
Jack, would suggest the best choice of training for the MKVIE system is going to be from the OEM, GE. They offer some great training classes in Salem Virginia and others in Colorado. The classes are not cheap, but I think the OEM has the best complement of tools to teach the product. If you...

Emerson Ovation vs GE Mark VIe
CRSwanson, I think Otised did a fantastic job of answering most of your questions but here a couple more comments. "I get the impression that the upgrade from Mark VI to VIe was to make the Mark control system more adaptable to total plant control, not just GT control. Is that true?" Yes...

Emerson Ovation vs GE Mark VIe
CRSwanson, I have held off commenting since I like CSA have some strong opinions that I don't want to taint my comments. That being said here goes. I have worked quite a lot on the Emerson Ovations systems, the older WDPF, GE MKVI, MKV and MKVE, GE Fanuc PLC's, Allen Bradley controllers, and...
