Interface between Mark VI & Cimplicity HMI
Ayman, Please answer the question: What version of Toolbox is being used? It is rumored that GE O&G (the former Nuovo Pignone) is still shipping new GE-design Frame 5 heavy duty gas turbines with Mark VI controls. It's not known if they purchased a large stock of Mark VI...

Low lift oil pressure - GE 7FA
Hashem Alkhasawneh, If the Jacking Oil (Hydraulic Oi) Pressure is good at the beginning of the START procedure, but it drops during the procedure then recovers, how does increasing the pressure solve the problem? Also, one should NEVER set the Hydraulic System Pressure with VR21 or...

Abnormal Turbine Acceleration
If FSR/VCE goes to zero, the flame, she go out. Not stall; flameout. If the turbine control system is putting so much fuel to try to accelerate the turbine that it's hitting temperature control and the unit doesn't reach self-sustaining speed then it's likely a problem with the starting...

SRV malfunction
CuriousOne, You make some valid points, but this poster is relatively new to Speedtronic control systems. You have thrown out lots of new terms without explaining them sufficiently. I think when he means "manual" stroking he is referring to using the Manual positioning feature of...

GE6B vibration
I'm with Bob Johnston on this one; sounds like an alignment issue, particularly if the same thing is happening to both machines albeit at slightly different rates/levels. And if the vibration has been increasing over time on both machines then it certainly seems like some kind of alignment...

Controlling a DC pump with PLC/PWM
I just did an Internet search and landed in eBay where there are some inexpensive PWM-based DC motor drives with potentiometers I presume are for speed setpoint/control. I would imagine you could do some manipulations with your 0-5 VDC pressure signal to use as the reference for the module to...

AC drive speed control
AC machines run at a speed that is pretty much directly proportional to the frequency of the applied voltage/current source. The relationship is stated by the formula: F = (P * N)/120 where, F = Frequency (in Hertz) P = number of Poles of the rotor (always an even number) N= Speed of the...

7FA Generator Low Hydrogen Purity After HGPI/MAGIC
GJRS, Thanks very much for the feedback. There really is only one way for purity to be lowered and that is through an elevated seal oil flow-rate. With the generator casing at 2 barg, air cannot leak into the generator casing. And if the purity is only low at one end of the generator (in your...

MArk VI control System VME Rack Power Supply
Just to clarify an abbreviation: SSO. Means 'Single Sign-On'. It's like a user name one uses to log in to a computer, and the reason they call it a 'single sign-on' is that GE has almost gotten their bureaucracy to the point that a single user name (it's a number, actually!) can be used to log...

Abnormal Turbine Acceleration
What kind of turbine? What is the rated speed of the turbine? What kind of starting means does the turbine use? How many times has the unit refused to start after a trip from load? What kind of control system is used on the turbine?

Retractable spark plugs in Frame 5 GE gas turbines
Just to clarify one point, the fuel nozzle "sprays" fuel into the center of the combustion liner. The spark plugs needs to be closer to the center of the combustion liner during firing when starting.

Retractable spark plugs in Frame 5 GE gas turbines
> May seem to simple, but the answer is air pressure. To expand on CuriousOne's "simple" explanation, the spark plugs used on non-DLN combustors have a spring inside them that causes the plug tip to be inserted into the combustion liner when the unit is shutting down and axial compressor...

Justin, Judging from your past posts, you seem to find yourself in this situation quite frequently--problems with performance after a maintenance outage. Did the gas turbine fuel flow measurement sensors get calibrated during the outage? If so, what were the as-found conditions versus the...

GE LM6000 PC Sprint Exhaust Temp
I do not profess to be any kind of expert on aero-derivative gas turbines. But, anything that decreases inlet air temperature (like SPRINT) increases the mass flow through the machine, and that has the effect of reducing the exhaust temperature since all of the air does NOT get consumed by...

Have you considered the dimensions of the o-ring "cut" on the separator experiencing the problems is not the same as the others not experiencing the problems? Have you tried using an 0-ring of a slightly larger diameter? Are you making the o-rings using a roll of o-ring material and a...
