Tripping on L86GCVT in MARK VI
When you do read the original post, completely, you will see that the problems began after the GCV plug was replaced during a maintenance outage. And, the problem occurs after the fuel transfer from gas to liquid is complete, when the GCV and SRV should be closed. Further, when the GCV is...

Compressor driver coupling shaft failure
What have you done to troubleshoot the problem? Have you contacted the company that performed the conversion for their assistance? We'll presume the main atomizing air compressor is driven by an output shaft of the Accessory Gear Box. Are you confident of the alignment of the compressor...

Gas Turbine Compressor Surge
There's also on-line water washing, but in cases like this, it's probably not as effective as in many other cases. In cases like this, it's best just to bite the bullet and shut down more frequently to perform off-line water washes. Your comment about the decreased performance is unclear...

Fuel control systems for industrial gas turbines
ProcessValue, I'd be very curious to know where you obtained this document, because it was pulled from distribution and modified shortly after its release, including correcting the sideways photo of the inside of the cabinet (Fig. 12). The information is accurate.

This sounds like a warranty issue. You should contact the supplier/packager for assistance.

Fuel control systems for industrial gas turbines
Hello, You should include the term 'governor' in your searches, because that was the most common term for turbine control systems for decades, beginning with the fly-ball governors of yore. This is something of a difficult topic, but not an impossible one. I suggest you research texts and...

Abnormal Behaviour of Exhaust Spread of GE Frame-IV machine
This is absolutely not abnormal behaviour. Trend L70L and L70R in addition to the other signals you have been trending and you will find that whenever the allowable spread is bumped up that it occurs whenever L70L or L70R transitions to a logic "1". This is done to bias or "bump up" the...

Mark-V trip on a non clear reason
There is insufficient information to determine what may have happened. The alarm list does not indicate what was the cause of the trip because the dithering alarm filled the queue.... The alarm printout must be consulted to see what condition tripped the unit and what alarms might have been...

MARK V
Well, I hope the alarm doesn't read 'Inlet Compressor Pressure Disagree' because you have provided temperature values, not pressure values.... When did this problem start? After a maintenance outage? After one of the axial compressor inlet temperature sensors was replaced...

Tripping on L86GCVT in MARK VI
Wow. I'm kinda shocked, ProcessValue. Thank you. I just hope BKMEENA, aka B K M, aka Brijendra Kumar Meena, will find something useful, presuming his machine has this type of combined gas valve assembly. And you're right about his penchant for not providing any feedback. It's about time we...

Mk5/6 directories/files
Oops, kinda forgot (just like ProcessValue kinda forgot to answer this specific question in his response to the original post): TC2KREPT.TXT is a file only used with the Mark V, and it's usually found in the F:\UNIT1 directory. And it's not used with all Mark V applications, usually only those...

Mk5/6 directories/files
In short (for those who don't want to read an overly long explanation) drive letters other than C: or D: usually refer to psuedo drives. (A psuedo drive is not a separate, physical hard drive even though it uses a drive letter just like a physical hard drive; it's a reference to a directory on a...

Tripping on L86GCVT in MARK VI
Since there was no response from the original poster about the GCV in use, the "drawing" and overly long description (sorry, ProcessValue) below presumes that the gas valve assembly being referred to is part of the combined SRV/GCV gas valve assembly typically provided with GE-design heavy duty...

Speedtronic Mk4 Arcnet OPC Server?
To the best of my knowledge, there is no OPC Server software that communicates directly to a Mark IV, but perhaps our resident Matrikon contributor, Wassim Daoud, can tell us for certain if Matrikon offers such a thing. And it would also depend on what you want to do with this communication...

question about pressure switch
Saied, Perhaps you need to return to your Customer and ask them to clarify the "hermetically sealed" requirement. It's possible they are referring to devices rated for hazardous atmospheres, "explosion-proof": Class I, Div. 2, Group D; etc. I've heard of hermetically sealed refrigeration...

Gas Turbine Compressor Surge
You say that this has happened on one turbine out of several on site, and multiple times to the same turbine. And that each time you have found a very dirty compressor. You haven't told us if the compressor has ever been refurbished or repaired, just that the same unit has experienced...

FSR Gag is primarily used for troubleshooting, especially when one is trying to determine the source of fuel control valve instability and load and/or speed instability. It's typically never used during normal operation (though I'm sure some sites have found unique reasons to do so for...

Is the GCV part of a combined gas valve assembly, where the SRV and GCV are cast into a single assembly, each with it's own actuator and plug and set of LVDTs? The SRV and GCV are usually "side-by-side" in this combined gas valve assembly. (The original manufacturer of this combined gas valve...

GENERATOR & BUS VOLTGE IN Mark V
As with all things Speedtronic, there are undocumented "features" that can be very mysterious until they are learned. There are several signal names for inputs that are not generally found in IO.ASG. I believe the designers did this because these are considered very "critical" signals and...
