Hello Everyone, first time poster here...

I am currently working on a big project and there has been 2 SIFs spotted on a vendor package. This package feeds back to the main control via profibus and there is no SIS/ESD wihtin the package. So in short, we need to get these new SIF isgnals back to the ESD and remove them form the profibus network....

Now, my question is, the profibus system is daisy chained back to the control system... it goes via a few other skid type packages, all via profibus back to the ESD system.... If we are taking the signals out of the existing profibus system and jhardwiring them back to the ESD, can we utilise the sdame profibus cable as an output back to the original vendor package control system? Or with this signal changing from an output from this package, to an input, does this change the whole infrastructure? Including the profibus card at the vendor package.

My current thinking is, because the vendor package PLC is the master, we would need to install a new profibus cable to get the info back to the PLC when these signals transition to hard wired ESD signals. The reason for this is because you cant make the ESD master on the same (existing) network as the current profibus network... this is because the PLC is currently the master.

Is this correct?
