"The Value-Added You

"We know that there will never again be lifetime employment. We know that it is up to each of us to make sure that our lifetime investment in ourselves is up to snuff and producing a high return on investment. We’ve
been told this enough, already. We know.

"But what we usually don’t know is how to translate this into action.

"Most of us keep plugging away at what we’re doing, every day. We go to work, we go home, we have lives, and we don’t work very hard at managing our careers and our work lives.

"It is just like the huge majority of us in the 1990s who allowed the companies we worked for to manage our 401Ks for us, and who have our IRAs on autopilot, trusting that when we retire, we will have what we need.

Well put, Walt. Recently, I accepted a role as Project Manager for a public utility. The challenges are many and great to keep the present level of automation on line and to strive for those program goals of regular and timely improvements.

I see by your bio' you have worn many hats in your career, which like myself, appears to be one of the secrets to success in this industry.
