I have a UPS system with 200AH capacity batteries of Sealed maintenance free type. Do i need to keep these batteries in a seperate room with any
special arrangement. Some body was telling that if AH capacity goes above 135AH we have to keep the batteries in a seperate room.

One major company I was with debated the question of battery isolation for years. The answer was an emphatic YES, the very day one blew-up during a UPS short-circuit test.

One utility company I ran across required any enclosed space that had any kind of lead acid battery (I think gel cells were exempt) in it to be mechanically ventilated. The theory being this dispersed whatever tiny amount of hydrogen might have been outgassing from the batteries. There was always some kind of question as to just what constituted an enclosed space.

But a small ventilation fan is cheap.

Battery AH capcity is calculated based on UPS alongwith the temp.as one of the factor. So please check your Battery AH calculations. Yes if it is placed in the Room having high temp. then rating may go down. SMF batteries are needs to be placed in conditioned room it will increase battery life considerably. You can refer battery AH graph against the calculated discharge current from Battery manf. for the details.
