We are in the process of upgrading our GE Mk II EHC steam turbine control system to a GE Mk VI EHC system. A plant similar to ours has implemented this system; they experienced problems with speed control at "full speed no load" conditions. They suspect that aliasing might be occurring. I am a mechanical type and I would like to come to a theoretical understanding of aliasing so, if we have similar problems, at least I will have some basic understanding of this phenomenon. Can anyone give me some good references on digital signal processing and aliasing, please? Thank you very much!

 

Do a Google search on aliasing; there are several very good papers and "simulators"/applets which explain the phenomenon very well.
