Load Trip Problem with C32 ACERT/EMCP 3.2/Micrologic 6.0A

Could use some help. CAT tech came out twice and couldn't figure it out.
Status: Running 480V/60Hz @ 1800rpm to supply 230Vac and 690Vac to supply 1000Vdc.

Problem: While Genset runs constantly @1800rpm and breaker CLOSED with little load on 690Vac and 230Vac, no problems. The problem is when we run 1000Vdc Draworks, the breaker will trip and the engine will shut off. Through process of elimination, we ruled out the EMCP 3.2, Voltage Regulator, and the breaker itself (Micrologic 6.0A/ RG 1600). On the O/P Relay I see pins 4 and 7. The fault ACTIVE is Custom Event #4 High SHUTDOWN. I suspect Reverse Power relay which is supplied 24Vdc through other safety/fault features (ie: Door Switch) or the connections going to Reverse Power relay.

This is where a DSO would come in handy. Watch two of the variables and trigger on the trip. The rectifier currents might be screwing you up with high currents and narrow conduction angles giving you an acceptable average but peaks are too high. Really just a guess, but many gensets don't like extremely non-linear loads.

Hi,

You have to look at wiring diagram to see whats connected to spare input 4.

It sounds as though its an "add on" because "Custom Event" would have been changed to the specific event that input is monitoring eg "Coolant Level"in the modifiable string settings in the EMCP if it was a factory fitted protection.

---- snip ----

Did it trip on reverse power?
