As part of Yokogawa Centum series DCS, i.e. CENTUM-CS/CS-1000 & CS-3000, the control drawing and logic charts display s/w packages are installed in HMI to troubleshoot/analyze the control and logic performance by maintenance and process engg. personnel. The main disadvantage of this concept is DCS Engineering station has to be kept on line always. Otherwise the above said package will not function. It is observed from time to time that any h/w failure to the Engineering workstation will inhibit the maintenance/process team to troubleshoot/analyze the control and logic functions performance.

It will be ideal and perfect if the manufacturer can separate this function from Engineering workstation to HMI like Process Graphics with dynamic update.

 

We have 575 logic charts in our plant are facing the same problem. We have consulted Yokogawa a number of times for this but they have not come with any concrete solution for this problem. One way to solve this problem would be to have graphics developed for these logic charts. U may not get accurate result of Timer in graphics. Also it would be tedious to provide logical modifiers to each line or graphical component.
