hi,

I am an Instrument & Control Engineer in sonatrach, algeria. We are using Speedtronic Mark-V Control System on our Gas Turbine Application. For Primary Operator Interface <I>, I want to install MARKV IDOS training in my LAP TOP (WIND XP, P4) these machines to P4 new computers.

Is there anybody who can share such experience with me?

Also, if anyone has list IDOS commands for mark v gas turbine, please send it to me in email address maatallah2011 [at] yahoo.fr

Thanks in advance

Ahh, Sonatrach, Algeria. That names strikes ... trepidation into the hearts of many people, even people who weren't "fortunate" enough to be associated with the project.

Look, <b>EVERY</b> <I> has an executable directory, G:\EXEC. And, almost every executable in that directory has a little "help" screen which can be accesses by typing the name of the executable followed by a "/?" (without the quotes).

For example, typing the following string at any command prompt:

LOGGER /?

will produce a help screen with a brief (VERY brief) description of the command along with a brief (VERY brief) description of any 'switches' which can be used with the command.

So, you already have as much help and information as there is available for IDOS commands.

I've never had any luck with running IDOS on a P4-equipped machine. The difficult part for me was to get MS-DOS to run on the P4-equipped motherboards; it just wouldn't seem to work. The computer runs MS-DOS and then a batch file, RUN_IDP.BAT executes IDOS and takes control of the microprocessor from MS-DOS and schedules MS-DOS as a task. My problem was always getting MS-DOS to run on a P4 machine.

Perhaps you can find something like "DOSBOX" (I think that's what it's called, of DOSBACHS; something like that, anyway) and try running MS-DOS and IDOS in that windowing environment).

In years past, I have created some "scripts" (I think that's what they call them today) to exit Win3 and Win98 to MS-DOS machines and run IDOS, but I don't even think I could remember how to do that today (a shortcut to "dual-boot" as I recall). But, I don't know if that's possible with WinXP and P4 processors today.

Write back and let us know if you succeed and how you were able to do it (specific details, not generalities).
