Hello,
I am working on a software project focused on intelligent automation, visual search, and data cataloging for engineering drawings. Specifically, we are building a tool designed to recognize, interpret, and catalog symbols, line types, and instrument bubbles directly from P&ID PDFs.
To ensure the logic is robust and matches real-world engineering workflows, I am looking to hire a consultant for a paid engagement.
Ideally, you fit the following criteria:
Location: Based in the Greater Houston area
Experience: Chemical Engineer, Process Engineer, or Automation/Controls Engineer with deep, hands-on experience reading, designing, or auditing P&IDs.
Domain Knowledge: Thorough understanding of industry standards (ISA-5.1, ISO, etc.), as well as how companies modify these standards in their local legends. You should be intimately familiar with the nuances of instrument loops, tagging conventions, and common drawing variations.
What the engagement looks like:
This will start as a paid advisory role (hourly or project-based, open to negotiation). Activities will include reviewing our recognition logic, defining edge cases (e.g., handling skewed scans, text inside bubbles, non-standard legends), and helping us map out how an engineer actually "navigates" a drawing during a project or HAZOP review.
If you are interested, or know a colleague in Houston who fits the bill, please send me a DM here.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to connecting.
