Is increasing the capacitance of the capacitor also increase the rpm? Please explain how it works.

 

Responding to Dboy's Oct 12, 10:53am query... increasing capacitor size will increase RPM, but only marginally.

Explanation.
You are probably aware that the major advantage of the permanent-split capacitor motor is its reversibility. And, because both windings are
identical, the capacitor is sized to provide a reasonable starting torque. Consequently, running torque is low and speed regulation poor.

Capacitor Influence.
Size is a compomise. The capacitor is sized to provide 'good' voltage regulation between say 50 and 120% of full load.

Conclusion.
Increasing capacitor size increases speed, but only if the capacitive-reactance offsets the inductive-reactance component of te supply cable voltage-drop.

No, the rpm are still tied to line frequency and number of poles.
