Hi:
Does anyone know of an alternate source for replacement cables for the AB 1784-PCMK cards? Series A or B.

AB wants an arm and 3 legs for these and they end up getting damaged or lost on a regular basis.

Also - has anyone ever been able to develop a USB to DH+ comm cable that works?

I am not real sure they are just cables. I suspect there are some
electronics in the big gray thing.

AB now has a USB to DH+ comms module, it is pricey like the PCMK with cables. It does work quite well and relatively easy to configure. We were looking at an alternative unit that was quite universal, just don't recall the brand.

Nobody but A-B makes cables for the 1784-PCMK. All the electrical conversion (like the transformer coupling for DH+) is done in that electronics module.

A-B has released a 1784-U2DHP module that provides a USB alternative to the 1784-PCMK for DH+ connectivity. It is the same price as a 1784-PCMK and cable.

 

Another option: DataLink DH+ lower cost gateways; USB DF1 to DH+ and Ethernet/IP to DH+ for Remote Programming with RSLINX/LOGIX and other SCADA, MMIs.
