Sizing a conveyor stop gate: force, impact and 24 V control checks

For a packaging conveyor retrofit, how should a pneumatic stop gate be sized? Start with package mass and speed, then estimate stopping energy and required cylinder force at the minimum available air pressure. Check the stop arm and frame for impact loads; a cylinder’s built-in shock absorber does not establish that the complete mechanism is adequate. Validate valve flow, exhaust control, cycle rate, sensor placement and repeatability at the actual line speed.

For an illustrative compact component reference, the AirTAC TTG32X10SKFG is described as a single-acting pull stopper cylinder with a 32 mm bore and 10 mm stroke: https://www.airtacs.com/products/airtac-ttg-pneumatic-stopper-cylinder-ttg32x10skfg. A 24 VDC control circuit may use a supply such as MEAN WELL HDR-30-24 (24 V, 1.5 A / 36 W) only after verifying all steady-state and inrush loads, temperature derating and protection requirements: https://www.meanwells.com/.

These are product references for a design review, not a validated combination. Final selection depends on the measured application and machine risk assessment; do not use ordinary control power or a pneumatic stop as a substitute for required safety functions.
