I have a CP5412 in a computer and I want to test or check this CP. I haven't a PLC for this. How do I do this???

Step 7 and Simatic Net(upon installation of the CP5412A2 driver) both install a diagnostic and configuration tool called "Setting the PG/PC interface". You can access it through Step 7 (Simatic Manager/Options), the Simatic menu (Start button/Simatic) or the Control Panel. Once you start the application, you can choose the CP5412A2 as a comm device; you should see the Diagnostics butto appear on the right side of the window. Clicking on it will bring you to another window, with Test and Read buttons. If you get a mesage "No partners on the bus" (or similar) then your installation is correct, but there are no available Dp-partners found (correct if you have no PLC); if there is a problem with your setup, yopu will get different messages depending on the error.
