Use of Variable Frequency Drives in Aircraft Systems

Hey, guys!

Do you know about any application of AC motors controlled with frequency inverters in aircraft control systems?

The use of DC motor with PWM control is very comomm in aviation. Many times, an TRU is necessary to convert from 115 VAC to DC input. But variable speed AC motors are not used.

Why Variable Frequency Drives are not extensively used in aviation?
