Baumer’s IX Vision System

The IX series PC-based GigE camera brings together all image acquisition components into a single, streamlined housing. This innovative design aims to minimize end-user frustration by eliminating the need for external component connectivity, protective enclosures for sensitive hardware, and complex wiring management for machine builders. This all-in-one camera is also equipped with integrated segmentable lighting and an autofocus feature, allowing for rapid integration and setup.

Baumer currently offers three models of the new high-performance monochrome cameras: the VIXG-10M.W.06, the VIXG-10M.W.08, and the VIXG-10M.W.16. These cameras boast a crystal-clear resolution of 1280 x 800 px with an operating distance of 50 to 1000 mm (100 to 1000 mm for the VIXG-10M.W.16). Camera features also include lightning-fast Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, a frame rate of 50 frames per second, status LED indicators for easy troubleshooting, a sturdy housing with an industrial rating of IP 67 for use in harsh industrial environments that could expose the camera to liquids and dust, and the option to add a clip-on polarization filter for enhanced image quality. The key point of distinction among these models lies in their integrated lens sizes, which are 6 mm, 8 mm, and 16 mm, respectively.

What Are GigE Vision and GenICam?

The GigE Vision standard is a camera interface protocol that harnesses the power of Gigabit Ethernet to facilitate the swift and efficient transfer of high-quality images using cost-effective cables. This innovative standard supports real-time transmission of large, high-bandwidth images over distances of up to 100 m, utilizing Cat5e or Cat6 cables and standard Ethernet connectors. Currently, in its Version 2.2, the GigE standard is poised to evolve into GigE Vision 3.0, promising to enable image streaming at unprecedented speeds of up to 400 Gbs.

GenICam is a powerful and adaptable programming interface compatible with a wide range of device interfaces, such as GigE Vision. This feature enables the development of a uniform application programming interface, regardless of the specific underlying interface technology used.

All-In-One Machine Vision

Baumer's launch of the IX series has simplified the setup and operation of the industrial camera with an all-in-one design. With its compact design, integrated components, and adherence to GigE and GenICam standards, the IX series offers a user-friendly and efficient solution for machine vision in factory automation.
