Dunkermotoren, an Ametek brand, has introduced the ServoLine (SL) 38 STL, a linear motor series within the SL 38 product family. This high-performance motor series is crafted from stainless steel, ensuring material quality and exceptional resistance to environmental factors.

What Is a Linear Motor? 

A linear motor is an electromagnetic device that generates straight-line motion. Unlike traditional motors that produce rotational movement, a linear motor's design allows for direct, back-and-forth motion along a straight path. It typically consists of a stationary part, called the stator, and a moving part, known as the rotor. When electrical current flows through the stator, it creates a magnetic field that propels the rotor, causing linear motion.

The ServoLine (SL) 38 STL Linear Motor Series

What Is an IP69K Rating?

Ingress protection (IP) is a standard that classifies and rates the degree of protection provided by enclosures against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact, and water. The IP rating is expressed as "IP" followed by two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects. The second digit indicates the level of protection against water.

In the case of the SL 38 STL linear motor with a protection rating up to IP69K, the "6" in the first digit signifies that the motor is dust-tight and offers complete protection against dust ingress. The "9K" in the second digit indicates that the motor is protected against high-pressure and high-temperature water jets.
