Nord Expands NORDAC Pro VFD Line to Support Motors up to 200 HP
A single VFD family now supports motors from 0.33 to 200 hp, helping simplify machine design, commissioning, and maintenance across applications.
Nord Drive Systems has expanded its NORDAC Pro variable frequency drive lineup to support motors up to 200 hp, extending a platform that already spans applications from fractional horsepower to heavy industrial equipment. The unified product family offers consistent programming, diagnostics, and communication features across multiple drive sizes, allowing OEMs and manufacturers to standardize on a single VFD platform. Built-in safety, multi-protocol Ethernet, and flexible configuration options further simplify machine design and maintenance.

Larger Motor Capacity
A VFD product line that supports a wide range of motors means a factory or OEM can rely on having the same parameters, settings, and diagnostics regardless of the application. Many applications require multiple VFDs of varying size; by using the same product line, control and functionality stay the same. The NORDAC PRO SK 500P now supports asynchronous or IE5+ motors up to 200 hp. The SK 500P series offers full PLC control via a multi-protocol Ethernet connection, hot-switchable parameters, integrated brake chopper, POSICON positioning control, and energy-saving functions.

The NORDAC Pro
The NORDAC Pro is a compact VFD designed to be installed in proximity to other NORDAC VFDs. There are three variants: basic, advanced, and advanced with Ethernet. The basic version includes integrated safety STO and SS1 signals, along with brake chopper, POSICON, and PLC interface. The advanced version adds expanded functionality with TTL encoders, additional I/O, and Bluetooth connectivity. A microSD card slot is provided, enabling transfer of parameters between drives. The advanced version with Ethernet offers the same features as the advanced version with a multi-protocol Ethernet port supporting protocols such as ProfiNet, EtherCAT, EtherNet, and PowerLink.
All variants utilize single- or three-phase power, 200-240 VAC or 380-480 VAC. Parameters can be set using the integrated LCD screen and soft-touch buttons, a plug-in control module, or the NORDCON software tool.

A VFD For A Wide Range Of Applications
When designing automated systems, designers will often use products they are familiar with. This cuts down on researching mounting instructions, parameters, and installation requirements. Nord Drive recognizes this and has invested in its existing VFD product family and expanded the power capacity of the NORDAC product line. An automated assembly line will often have multiple VFDs; some will be for conveyors, while others might be for a dial table. All of these devices are often installed in the same cabinet, right next to each other. When all the VFDs are from the same product family, it doesn’t matter the size of the VFD; configuring and controlling the VFD will be the same. With NORDAC features like an microSD card, a multi-protocol port, and compact size, designers will have no trouble fitting the NORDAC into most applications.
