RTD PT100 BEARING TEMPERATURE READING NOT STABLE
> One, you can simply ground one end of the unused conductor to drain away any noise from that conductor to ground. Second, you could connect it in parallel with any of the other conductors (so you would end up with two conductors for say the excitation or the compensation or the signal...

RTD PT100 BEARING TEMPERATURE READING NOT STABLE
1. > The power cable and shielded cable run is same cable tray That's your problem. The motor current is inducing noise in the RTD. At 0°C, the RTD signal is only 100mV. 2. > If so is the sensor electrically connected with the sheath, so called grounded tip sensors? Grounded tip...

could it be a modbus or instrument wiring issue
Have the missing six temperature values ever appeared on the HMI? Or is the issue getting them to appear on the HMI? If the temperature values have never appeared, then presumably Modbus configuration of the polling station is likely the culprit. The communication between the HMI, presumably...

Establishing Modbus TCP communication
University of Michigan had a service to test Modbus devices for Modbus/TCP compliance, 'back in the day' (the date on the web page is 2004) Their web page is still up, https://web.eecs.umich.edu/~modbus/ It was active in 2013...

Modbus Communication between EATON Power Meter and Accuenergy Data Acquisition Server
The Eaton meter uses an absolute starting address of 40000 decimal with all mapped values indexed from the starting 40000 value (which is not noted on the published map). The map tells us that "watts, 3-Ph" register is at zero-based address 0x0383, (one-based 900 decimal). The relative...

Modbus Communication between EATON Power Meter and Accuenergy Data Acquisition Server
I cannot determine from Post #11 what the slave node ID number is. "Modbus/TCP header"? What does that mean when Modbus RTU is being used?

Modbus Communication between EATON Power Meter and Accuenergy Data Acquisition Server
in post #11, somebody's baud rate is 57.6K and the port is RS-232, not RS-485. RS-232 is not RS-485. Baud rates MUST be identical

Modbus Communication between EATON Power Meter and Accuenergy Data Acquisition Server
> Would it be worth trying 40383 or 400383 for the address? Rather than entering 0383 ? Answer: No. The numeral 4 which indicates Holding Registers is only ever used with one-based decimal addressing, never with zero-based hexadecimal addressing. Your master specifically asks for...

Use of PLC for greenhouse hidroponic NFT system , (loop control of PH, EC and Temp in nutrient solution reservoirs)
The control part sounds trivial - capable by almost any PLC/PAC (Process Automation controller, designed more for process control than for the speed of their discrete input ladder scans). My limited exposure to fish farming revealed quite stringent requirements for temperature and pH...

Conversion of PLC Logic from One platform to another
The A-B PLC5 was so ubiquitous that several controls companies offered software 'migration' routines that converted logic to their platforms, with all sorts of caveats, warnings and exemptions about conversion efficiencies'. The meaning was clear, the straightforward stuff gets 'translated'...

4-20mA communication
The manufacturer has provided a robust signal that can easily traverse 500m, or even a kilometer or two: 4-20mA. To keep it the 4-20mA signal noise free use stranded conductor STP, Shielded Twisted Pair, AWG 16g or 1.5mm2. Connect the shield to ground at one end only. The cost of cable and...

Modbus RS485 to CAN configuration
1. > I was also able to test this and we saw the same result. And that result was ? ? ? ? 2. Modbus slaves do not broadcast, so there's a setting somewhere on the flow meter that defines whether the RS-485 port is Modbus mode or 'broadcast' mode. Have you found that setting to make sure...

Modbus RS485 to CAN configuration
Suggestions for Modbus appear to be correct. Your screen shot for the Modbus setup is for Function Code 01 (not FC03), so it shows bit count (FC01), not register count (FC03). I assume you're on the page that is for FC03. I have no idea what the CAN side should be, I've never used it. Nor do...

Modbus RS485 to CAN configuration
Good idea to pick temperature that will give you a value that you know whether it is correct or not. I would think that the multiplier factor would be 0.1 for temperature so that the integer value * 0.1 would read out in tenths of a degree. The data entry mimics a Modbus message that has two...

Exchanging alarm states with modbus
You have identified an inherent weakness of the Modbus protocol. Modbus is a master/client-slave/server protocol and a slave/server is silent unless spoken to. Inverter/drives are typically a Modbus slave/server, so the slave/server has no means of alerting the master of an alarm until it is...

Modbus addressing in PLC
The zero-based, indexed, hexadecimal address is shown in the second column, 0000H, or 0000 without the hex notation. The one-based register is (3)0001. I’m guessing that the PVvalue is mapped twice, once at (3)0001 and a second time at (3)1001. Input Regesiters are Read-Only, by definition...

Relative humidity in compressor inlet air
Thread hijack alert When I was much younger, some stock car racers would cool the air over dry ice in the air intakes on their V-8s on the theory that cooler air is denser and the more air through the carb, the more fuel/air mixture drawn into the combustion chamber, the more power, the faster...
