Fundamentals
V=IR Voltage equals Current multiplied by Resistance, where Resistance can be Total Impedance (Resistance, Inductance and Capacitance) Voltage doesn't go anywhere unless you put it in a Volkswagen and push it down the street.

Starting Motor inability to break turbine away during a Compressor Off-line Water Wash.
Kwabena, As I've written, most people are shocked (no pun intended) to hear of the starting motor drawing 150-160% of rated current during CRANKing and acceleration. And, since your site has been in operation for years and it doesn't sound like there is any past record of the current drawn by...

Integrating 2-wire Rpm sensor to current 3-wire Rpm sensor system
If I understand your question, and I replace Littlefuse 5075 with 55075 in a World Wide Web search using my preferred search engine, I believe the answer is no. The Littlefuse 55075 requires a voltage source; most "magnetic pickup units" generate their own pulse signals as the teeth pass under...

What is control constant? How to identify constant and variables?
himeshvarshan, You found controls engineers on a World Wide Web forum called Control.com. Since you posted your question in the Power Generation section, I'm going to presume you have been exposed to a GE Mark* turbine control system because it uses Control Constants in programming and...

Steam Turbine Emergency Overspeed Probes Not Sending Signal (2/3) - L14H_ZE
I don't think I quite get the problem here. I don't know if L14H_ZE is a or
alarm (Process or Diagnostic). I'm really not a steam turbine guy, and in my personal opinion if two of the three emergency speed pick-ups are not sending signals while the unit is running it should be tripped...

Starting Motor inability to break turbine away during a Compressor Off-line Water Wash.
Kwabena, One's smartphone can be used to take a CLEAR photo of the rung in question and then you can attach it to a reply here and we can SEE the rung and know what it looks like. NORMALLY a suffix of 'Z' on a signal name means the signal (in this case L14HRZ) is the INVERSE of its namesake (in...

Starting Motor inability to break turbine away during a Compressor Off-line Water Wash.
I guess I can't resist.... This is pretty common logic from GE USA; probably not anything like GE Belfort's sequencing. L83BW is a logic "1" when CRANK is selected (L43C is a logic "1"), Off-line Water is selected (L43BW is a logic "1"), a START is initiated (L1X is a logic "1"), the unit is...

Kwabena, There's another possible scenario which may be at play here ... Again, you wrote: "As for the L14HRZ signal, it is one of the permissive signals for starting the offline compressor water wash. This is because the unit must be at standstill (zero speed) before you can carry out an...

Kwabena, Thanks for the information; it should be very helpful (though without being able to see the Starting Means P&ID I personally have a difficult time visualizing the turning gear mechanism....). I presume you didn't have to manually rotate the turbine-generator shaft this time.?.?.? You...

glenmorangie, Another poster hoping that by opening a thread on a World Wide Web forum with one piece of information (but wait--now we have three pieces of information!) the expert(s) can(will) know immediately what the problem is and how to solve it without even a screwdriver or a wrench. No...

Gas turbine fails to ratchet after shutdown.
Akin, What SHOULD be happening is this: The Aux. L.O. Pump should be placed in HAND (Manual) operation, and if the motor starter won't allow that then the output of the Mark* that drives the Aux. L.O. Pump should be forced to start and run the Aux. L.O. Pump. This is to keep L.O. flowing to the...

New analog input on MKV - IO CFG FAILED Message
Mauricio, Thank you for the feedback! If you ALWAYS saw TAs make assignments in SITE.ASG, then that means they were creating new signals NOT USED for inputs/outputs. ANY signal name to be assigned to an input or output "channel" has to be assigned in IO.ASG. For the most part, all other...

TBP RAJESH, I have visited and worked at a couple of sites with this new Server concept. What I can tell you is this: It is complicated and not very well documented--even for GE systems, its not well documented. If there are ANY issues at all with the hardware or networking it's going to be...

Mauricio, HamsterKing is 100% correct. It almost always comes up when rebooting either processor for any purpose as the boot process is going. As long as the processor gets to I/O State A7–everything is good!
