AGM batteries constantly charged. Can it damage them?
gubavac111, Thank you for the update. I personally suspect an issue with the testing methodology—but I can’t prove that. I have not seen or heard of CCA testing in the context of what you are describing—a means of testing emergency power supply batteries. The only such testing I have ever...

Info about Primary Frequency Regulation - GE Gas Turbine
The model? This topic has been covered before in many threads on Control.com. GE developed their version of Primary Frequency Control (PFR) to overcome a serious shortcoming of the load control scheme for their heavy duty gas turbines that cause them to inappropriately respond to grid frequency...

GE-9E wheelspace temperature Abnormal
rokan_123, I have seen a replacement wheelspace T/C also fail before. In my personal opinion it happens because some shift of the nozzle segments occurs which pinches the sheath. I have also seen the T/C guide tubes be found to have broken free of their clips, which puts a twisting force on...

Questions about the principle of hydraulic servo system
What current values are you providing the servo-valve in question? There are 4-20 mA servos, +/-10 mA servos (bipolar), 0-100 mA servos, 0-200 mA servos, etc. And, if the feedback loop is open, depending on the design of the system the device might go to one end or the other of the total...

GE-9E wheelspace temperature Abnormal
The turbine wheel rotates at 3000 RPM—it’s VERY difficult to get high differential temperatures in a particular wheelspace when the air all around the wheelspace is being mixed at that rate. Most problems are caused by improper insertion of the wheelspace, most likely a difference in the...

RTD- failure
I also wonder about using RTD’s for the “stabbing” application…. Sometimes (too often) economics drive engineering design decisions and sometimes the other reasons—once understood—make sense but not really. I believe many T/Cs are not so good at temperatures this low, but depending on the...

AGM batteries constantly charged. Can it damage them?
I’ve only ever witnessed CCA testing of automobile batteries, and that was done completely disconnected from the vehicles. I’m not familiar with the device you are using but if you are following the manufacturer’s instructions and don’t feel good about the results try contacting the manufacturer...

AGM batteries constantly charged. Can it damage them?
gubavac111, The drop in CCA would have been nice to know in the original post. Unless the load exceeds the output of the charger, the charger will supply all the current required by the load. An equalizing charge applied periodically is always a good thing for batteries. In my RV I try to...

GE MarkVIe (Migration) - IONet Timeout \ Watchdog Protection Trip
I successfully avoided the Mark V-to-Mark VIe migration. Don’t know about that at all. I’ve never even had a glance at the manuals for it; it’s such a kludge. And a lot of people bought it thinking it was something entirely different, and were displeased when they saw what they got. (Same...

GE MarkVIe (Migration) - IONet Timeout \ Watchdog Protection Trip
Thanks for the update! You probably already know, FPGA stands for Field-Programmable Gate Array, and I think they are used in several I/O Packs. Do you know which one(s)?

RTD- failure
There are many types of RTDs (Pt100; DIN100; etc.). They each have different ranges of temperatures they work best in. Are you using the right RTD for the range you are measuring? But, David_2 brings up a good point: If the RTDs are physically the same the only difference is the “stabbing” that...

AGM batteries constantly charged. Can it damage them?
No. Happens ALL THE TIME with RVs (Recreational Vehicles). A three-step (“phase”) charger with temperature sensor is best.

Flame Detection and Monitoring
leonid_r, I am conservative when it comes to changing most Control Constants—PARTICULARLY when it comes to DLN settings. In a lot of places in the world there are no real penalties for high emissions and while these sites buy DLN combustor-equipped turbines (mostly for the optics of being able...

Is there anyway to learn about Mark VIE
nikid.control, Were the Mark VIe turbine control panels at your site provided with the turbine-generators and auxiliaries when they were originally installed and commissioned, or were they provided as upgrades to older Mark* turbine control systems on existing units? GE has really made...

Exhaust temperature spread trip

Exhaust temperature spread trip
leonid_r, It’s not strange at all if the insertion depth is incorrect. It also happens to units when the igniter tips get old and worn. They do not have an indefinite life, contrary to (false) popular opinion. What IS UNUSUAL is that there are two (2) igniters—redundant—and that both aren’t...

Curous_One, I wish I could remember the ML number of the drawing, but it's been too long--and I don't have access to any electronic copies of Parts List at this writing. I think it's in the 500 series of ML numbers, but I can't remember exactly. It's an odd drawing to find it on, that's for...

leonid_r, Your question is not related to the original post at all. This very subject has been covered before several times--it's NOT a spread trip, it's a failure to reignite the primary zone. You can use the 'Search' feature (the magnifying glass at the top of every Control.com webpage) to...
