Modbus RTU on Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1400
Slow communication throughput is the nature of 'sequential polling' Modbus when a slave fails to respond for any reason because the master/client waits for a response during the entire 'time-out' period before moving onto the next poll in the sequence. You can shorten the time-out period...

Modbus and Media Converter
The user manual the comes up in a web search for EDMI MK6E is dated 2004 and shows serial connections: RS-232 or RS-485. One model appears to use RJ-45 connectors for the RS-485, but the word Ethernet does not appear in the manual, so the network is apparently an RS-485 multidrop network. A...

Radar Level Transmitter Fluctuation
The coaxial probe is the one with the highest sensitivity. Does your GWR transmitter have a coaxial probe? I'll bet it's a rod probe, the least sensitive style GWR probe.

Temperature Controller
Either 1) the controller is not tuned aggressively enough to correct the temperature error or 2) the load exceeds the heat capacity until the load lightens or stops. You didn't tell how the load changes while the sealer operates or whether the sealer can hold its own (supply...

Interfacing a PLC Barcode Reader with PC
OPC UA promises to do this and much, much more. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors about what's in the pipeline and what's coming out and how our lives will radically change (unstated as to whether that will be better or worse) with UA data flying all the place. I stopped holding my breath...

Repairing Instrumentation
>1- if the positioner is faulty, what could be the problem? Get the manual for it and find the troubleshooting section in the back part of the manual and read it. Most failures are probably due to dirty and/or wet supply air that gums up the internals. There can be electronic failures, too...

Communication between Sepam 40 and Citect SCADA
1. One never ever guesses at serial comm or slave node ID address setup. One reads the manual for the power meter and checks to see what the serial comm settings and slave node ID address are: Slave node ID: Baud rate: whatever data word: 8 bits stop bit: one parity whatever Be aware...

Differential Pressure Transmitter
All pressure measurement is inherently differential, meaning pressure is measured with respect to a reference pressure. For gage pressure measurements, the reference is the atmosphere. For absolute pressure measurements, the reference is a chamber evacuated to hard vacuum assumed to be...

Load Driving Capability
I ran into a two wire level transmitter that had really high lift-off voltage, around 19V if I recall correctly. The wire run was over half a mile, not heavy gauge copper conductors. It would run fine until it reached the point at which the power supply could no longer drive the loop...

What is PV CLAMP?
It is probably explained in the documentation, like these screen shots: https://s3.postimg.org/5560zn6n7/About_the_clamp_point_1.jpg https://s28.postimg.org/983v27rvh/About_the_clamp_point_2.jpg Your mileage may vary, depending on device/brand/model.

Gefran 800P Controller Modbus ValueError
Glad you got it running. Thanks for the feedback to the forum and your insight. I agree with your insight about needing to reset devices for them to accept any change you've made. In the PC world, the processing power is so much greater that changes can be accepted on-the-fly, but devices...

Calibration vs Ranging
The present day spec for drift-over-time is so good that I probably wouldn't bother checking. I'd assume the performance is more than adequate after the range change. But it's your call. Someone has already re-ranged the transmitter from 0-100m3/hr to 0-200m3/hr, so you don't call re-ranging...
