Solenoid Valve Coil Life
It is common knowledge that heat kills electrical/electronic components. ASCO's white paper http://www.asco.com/ASCO%20Asset%20Library/asco-optimizing-power-management-white-paper.pdf#search=coil%20life%20expectancy on power consumption and the heat it produces explains the impact...

Origin of "Impulse Line"
Origin of 'impulse line' Yes, your connection impulse with physic's force is along the right path. I've actually wondered why and when the term was used too, and I'm a native English speaker. So I got out some old and older books to see when impulse line was used. The 1989 edition of the...

Themocouple Ferrules and Sleeves Wiring
I am unaware of wiring crimp ferrules made of thermocouple alloys. That's not to say that such a product isn't out there, but I haven't seen it. I suspect that the market is not large enough to warrant producing them. If you were to use conventional ferrules, designed for copper wire, the...

Modbus RTU Communication Between HMI HNC-TP2507 and DANFOSS FC51
See my post, the last one in this thread, here: http://control.com/thread/1411750426#1411826356l Ignore the first sentence and start at "Modbus is a project. Congratulations, you're the project engineer!" Your HNC TP2507, the HMI, will be the Modbus RTU master. Wherever the post refers to...

RS232 Over Fiber Issue
I do wired serial but not FO and I'm not an IT guy so I don't even know what a "rollover to a Cisco" is. But by your own admission you have all the means of doing troubleshooting by substitution, to whit, "This configuration worked fine in my lab with just a 10 meter fiber patch cord between the...

Coil Overheating Issue
The world is full of solenoid valves and their coils, from dozens of vendors, in literally, thousands, if not tens of thousands, of models with different specifications, so the answer is it depends on the specs for that specific coil. Most solenoid coils are rated at a specific voltage and...

RS485 Challenge
Can you extend the timeout period in the master? It should not slow the throughput/replies from the other devices, but might allow enough time for the echart to reply. Maybe echart is overwhelmed with calculations and can't get around to servicing the com port. >The challenge is with echart...

Driving an Analog Output Module of Phoenix Contact with Foxboro IA System
Yes, my statement agrees with the manual. If you want to read/fetch analog output values, then you use Function Code 3 to read (4)0576 - (4)0767. If you want to write to the analog output registers, then you use Function Code 16 (FC16 decimal, FC10 hex) to write the values to Holding...

Driving an Analog Output Module of Phoenix Contact with Foxboro IA System
Address 30585 is a Modbus Input address/register. An analog output value will not likely to be in an 'input register' (by convention), but will be in a Holding Register in the 4xxxx address block. Function code 04 fetches Input registers at 3xxxx Function code 03 fetches Holding...

No Connection RS485
RS-485 is just a transport mechanism for binary bits. Any number of protocols, sets of rules for communication and how data is packed can run over RS-485. I seriously doubt that the communications protocol is Modbus, therefore, using a Modbus master utility won't do anything. A Google...

Changing from Bar(G) Pressure tx to Bar(A) Pressure tx
5167 uses differential pressure for flow calulation. So the use of an absolute pressure transmitter says that a flow computer is being used to convert from volumetric flow to mass flow with temperature and static pressure compensation. Mass flow static pressure uses absolute units.

Error from Type K Extension vs Thermocouple Wire
I opened the catalog of a T/C vendor and found a limit of error table for extension wire. https://s15.postimg.org/6gpczedln/Limits_of_error_for_extension_wire.jpg It appears that the standard limit of error for K wire is the same value as standard limit of error for thermocouple wire, but...

RS485 Challenge
You don't say how "does not work" manifests itself - Master times out? Exception code? Whole network comes down when you add #7? What exactly happens when you add #7? Error log messages? But, if #7 works OK stand-alone then you know how to wire it and poll it. Did you leave the...

Modbus Errors in HVAC System - Invalid CRC and Response Not from Requested Slave
> I can poll both HP and HVAC and get values. If you get VALID values from each device, then the physical RS-485 network connection is functioning. 1) Why the "response not from expected slave" error? If you're getting valid data from each, then it isn't clear how the slave ID's could...
