Connecting a transmitter to HMI
Mpanahipour, How would you answer the original poster's question? He didn't tell us anything about the transmitter (manufacturer; model number; etc.) and nothing about what he's done and what the results were. He could have taken some wire and terminated it at both ends and said, "Well--this...

Flame detectors at GE gas turbine
ControlEng999, That's NOT true for ALL GE-design heavy duty gas turbines. And it's probably only true for some units with DLN-1 combustion systems, and one of the flame detectors is looking for diffusion flame in the primary combustion zone and the second is looking for diffusion flame in the...

Library block copy
Are we talking about copying a library between different versions of Toolbox? AND, are we presuming they are same "basic" version (such as both 4.nn.nn)? What if the block is a 6.nn.nn library, and it's being copied and pasted to a 4.nn.nn project? I kind of find this a little hard to grasp...

Srv gcv calibration
Actually, we all seem to overlook the 'Similar threads' block immediately below the reply window... It uses an algorithm, I'm sure, to find the "most relevant" past threads, but sometimes it's pretty good. I don't recall seeing any help for the new Control.com search feature.... to include...

Srv gcv calibration
MIKEVI, Taki27 is most likely Takieddine27 who joined Dec. 23, 2020, looking for a procedure for calibrating SRV GCV for Mark V-equipped units. That user profile lists his profession as 'Service Engineer.' I had written a very long response trying to explain "calibration" but it's all been...

Causes of Reverse Power in Generators
amit0612, While a sizable portion of original posters to this site provide feedback on their issues, a larger number do not. Many are just hoping for an exact answer to their problem so they can go back to whatever they do when they are getting paid to troubleshoot problems or operate power...

Power Imbalance
khalideltayef, 1) When did this problem start? After a trip or shutdown? After a maintenance outage? Has this been ongoing since commissioning, and if so how long ago was commissioning? 2) Does your working place supply power to a utility grid, or a nearby process plant? 3) Does your working...

Mark VIe IO Pack Failures
NTH_P, SPECIFICALLY, WHAT WAS THE PROCESS ALARM THAT WAS ANNUNCIATED WHEN THE TURBINE TRIPPED? WHAT I/O (Inputs/Outputs) ARE CONNECTED TO THE THE I/O TERMINAL BOARD THE PAIC WAS ON? 1. While it's true that a single Diagnostic Alarm will not cause a unit to trip (in a TMR configuration), there...

Multi point RTD malfunction
I'm not a fan of using RTDs for this temperature range in particular, or even in general as their wiring is often misunderstood. EVERY vendor is going to say the same thing, "We have never had problems with [this] anywhere else." Given the problems only reportedly started after the SDM (Shut...

Load Sharing Meaning?
morsy san, There are many types of load sharing modules for different purposes. For power generation applications load sharing might refer to kW or MW load sharing or reactive load sharing (usually VAr's). The concept of load sharing is that operators should be relieved of monitoring the...

Load Sharing Meaning?
morsy san, If there is a load sharing module in use at your site there should be an instruction manual for it available on site, or you could get the module part number and visit the manufacturer's website to download an instruction manual. If you still have questions, you need to tell us what...

loss of flame using distilate oil
Oh, and I want to add: What alarms are being annunciated when these problems occur? If it's a Mark* turbine control system, does it actually annunciate the alarm LOSS OF FLAME TRIP? Because if it doesn't, and you're just attributing the trip to loss of flame, then it's something else--and there...

Yes. This topic has been covered many, Many, MANY times before on Control.com. Use the 'Search' feature at the top of every Control.com webpage to look for Similar threads. Also, at the bottom of every thread is a section called 'Similar threads' which lists threads an algorithm thinks might be...

MARK VI-Fail to download application code
Methinks the original poster is trying to download several things at once--and if the site is a multi-unit site and units are running then the UDH could be very busy (high number of alarms, or high number of dithering alarms which haven't been locked out or "shelved"; poor HMI configurations...

GE Mark VIe control panel
Dipti prakasha Bhanja, I forgot to mention that if the stray voltages you are reporting are ONLY at DO terminal screws they are probably NOT going to harm the Mark VIe. And won't probably cause intermittent problems or worse. It's the wires used for DI circuits which can be greatly affected by...

GE Mark VIe control panel
Well, if you are measuring this voltage when the Mark VIe DO contacts are open, but it disappears when the contacts close then it's probably not a problem at all. It's just induced voltage that has "nowhere" to go--until the contacts close and then the neutral connection in the motor starter...

GE Mark VIe control panel
Dipti prakasha Bhanja, Still not enough information. USUALLY, the DOs of the Mark VIe connected to the MCC for starting and stopping motors are "dry contacts"--meaning they just switch power which comes from an external source, in this case from the control power circuit of the motor starters...
