GE Mark VI/VIe HMI and Software Questions
SISO Engineering has the contacts with GE to get this software for folks. Note: You need to be a recognized Mark VIe user/utility Send them an email @
[email protected]
. They can walk you through how to get a license for all that software.

MKVIE UCCC Not Booting
Whether re-configuring the Flash card or Using the Serial cable to configure the controller. Both ways do the same thing: it assigns the IP address to the controller and gets its base information so that the UCCC can startup and be ready to receive a real download from ethernet. So as...

Difference Between I/O Cards
Don't read too much into the last characters. That is a GE internal thing. Long story short, they do different inventory changes in their systems, and they cannot have repeat part #s so they get away with it by adding the 2 extra characters. The External customer should not see a difference, nor...

MKVIE UCCC Not Booting
Definitely sounds like you have to re-flash the controller. See Demigrog's comments. Another stupid question: is there a flash card in the UCCC controller? If there is not, then this could be the reason the UCCC is not booting up. Or the flash card could have been corrupted on reboot. But...

Factory Acceptance Test of MARK VIe
Nowadays, GE doesn't normally do customer FATs. They do internal FAT and do internal testing and then send the system out. However, customers can push to do Software Acceptance Tests (SWAT) for that specific software being done. I don't think they will allow your hardware to be there...

MarkVI UDH/PDH Switch Confguration
The spares (if bought from GE) are supposed to be plug and play. The only thing that you may need to change is the IP Address. If this is a separate switch not bought through GE, then you need to load a full configuration. In short, What I would do is download the config from another...

Adding New I/Os to Mark VI
Sorry for the late response. Demigrog is right. If you aren't putting any point on EGd, then no puts and gets are needed. Hence you do not need to make any changes to the HMI file/Cimplicity In short, you are doing 4 things: Creating a new variable Modifying logic to move a signal to...

Providing External Voltage or Current Excitation Signals
A good question. To be honest, I struggle with this topic every time I work with a customer. Every site prefers to do it differently. In short, yes, you will need power on each I/O somehow. Where the power comes from can differ. One thing to look at is what your controls system you are...

Build of MKVI HMB file
I double checked last night, the "device No." field is right next to the IP address. That is what you need to change. Again, right click on the top level, and go to Modify. It will be there on the "General" tab. Just a note: When you make this change and do a Put & Get, the GT.m6b may...

Build of MKVI HMB file
Ger, It has been a while since I have used HMB files, so I apologize if my am a little off in my instructions. In short, the issues seems to be that CT11 CT14 are claiming to be the same "device". There is something in the configuration file of the CT11.hmb or CT14.hmb that you need to...

Modbus Configuration: Registers Table
KLAMAR, there is so much Modbus information, that it is tough to learn all there is about the subject over a blog. I am by no means an expert, but I have worked with it for many years. First question is what systems are talking together via Modbus? each vendor has their own quirks with...

Mark VIe integration with DCS HMI
I am shocked that GE would take 18 months to do all the upgrade work. Make sure you keep pushing them. I would imagine the timeline to be closer to 10 months. And even then, that is giving them a long long time. Also, I am assuming your plant is <3 GTs. Also, keep in mind that you can...

Mark VIe integration with DCS HMI
All Good Stuff. If I can summarize some of the comments and rank in my preference order * OPC-UA communication through the HMI (ControlST) * Modbus Communication through the HMI (ControlsT) need to hand code status bits * OPC-DA communication through the HMI (ControlST w/ added...

Modbus RTU illegal data address
RK, From my experience, it depends on the slave devices. Some times the slave device is smart enough to send back N/A data and keep going to addresses 400004/5. Normally when you request data does not exist the slave will fail and all the data could be bad. Just to be safe, I would...

Mark VIe integration with DCS HMI
RRA, These are good questions. I wish I could say that GE is better at support than your experience. Mark VI/VIe supports a whole heap of protocols....In reality it is the software. I would recommend doing the communication through the HMI. This allows for more diagnostic testing and...

I do not think you can. However, if you can get your hands on a software copy of ControlST 6.2, you can install it and use the trender tool without the license.

Windows 2000 Drivers for HMI Running Cimplicity
I have not worked with a computer that old in some time. My recommendation would be to at least move to Windows 7. There are too many security and obsolesce issues. There are a few different businesses (Non-GE) that can help you with new PC configurations. My guess is the cost would be...

Communication Between TRANE BCU Controller and GE cimplicity
Manoj, you should look at GE's IGS (Industrial Gateway Server). It is a pretty easy tool that acts as a gateway interface between Cimplicity Server and pretty much any protocol. http://www.geautomation.com/node/12978 If you have a GE account, you can call GE Automation and buy one....I...

Mark VI Comm Failure 1298
This sounds like a workstationST failure. There could be many reason why this is not working. But in short, WorkstationST handles all of the EGD traffic from the Mark VIe and converts it to the Cimplicity graphics. When you go online to force the controller, you are bypassing WorkstationST...
