Transformer
Bittu… let’s start by listing the key magnetic parameters of a two-winding iron-core transformer: o Ac = cross sectional area of the iron core. o Lm = magnetic-path (median) length. o Rm = reluctance of the magnetic-material path. If the magnetic-material property like permeability is...

Why Is Current Transformer Secondary Short Circuited?
Shai... in answer to your two questions about Multi-Ratio (not Multi-Winding) CTs: 1) Only one tap should be used. 2) Do not short the other. Regards, Phil Corso

Electromagnet discharge
XC-racer... sorry that my 31-Oct-11 (14:07) was improperly addressed. BTW, there are formulas for RC (snubber) circuits. And, there are also solutions involving diodes, Zeners, and Varistor components. Of course the latter require that nameplate data also be made available. Regards, Phil...

steam turbine vibration
Packzad... I do not presume to have a solution, but, perhaps an experience will shed some light! Coincident change in amplitude and phase-shift could be indicative of a vibration phenomenon referred to as the 'Morton Effect!" It is associated with tilting-pad bearings or seal-to-shaft rub. My...

High leg on 3 phase power
Instructor HVAC... the arrangement you observed is called a Corner-Grounded-Delta. It is a 3-phase, 3-wire system. I suggest you post a new thread because this thread is the Center-Tapped High-Leg or Red-Leg, or Bitch-Leg, etc. It is a 3-phase, 4-wire system. Regards, Phil Corso

Fail to close 11 KV, 2650 A SF6 Circuit Breaker
MHM... you haven't provided much detail. So I will guess as to the breaker type. If the breaker is an indoor, horizontal-withdrawable type, then inspect the mechanical interlock between the breaker and the shutter that blanks-off the opening to the "energized" bus stabs, when breaker is...

CSA... I must admit your behavior is consistent! So, then, you still don't know why the alternator which is connected to the Delta-side winding of the GSU must be grounded (NGR, NGT, or other, even though the GSU Y-side winding is already grounded? Perhaps, some one else can enlighten you...
