Siemens SGT-600
Hi Gent, Unfortunately, we don't seem to have a lot of contributors with Siemens GT experience. Most heavy duty gas turbines use variable inlet guide vanes to control the amount of air entering the axial compressor. This is usually done to protect the axial compressor during starting and...

Tilt Pad Bearings
Don't know where you read this, but I'm not aware of this kind of issue. But then you haven't really told us what the application is (journal bearing? or ???). Have you contacted the OEM or turbine packager for assistance? Can you tell us what problems, if any, you are experiencing, or...

Possibility of Interchanging Stahl with Pepperl+Fuchs
OmoG, You really haven't provided enough information to be of help. What are the area/zone classification requirements for the location of the power supply and transmitter it would power? Is the transmitter a SMART transmitter and does it require a unique power supply? Does the power...

Zeroed Starts Counters and Total Fired Time Mark V
ControlGT, Are these the only two values that were zeroed out? Has anyone done any EEPROM downloading to the Mark V turbine control panel control processors and re-booted them recently? Has anyone made any changes to the CIMPLICITY project or displays recently? Does anyone open the...

Remote GT Operation Modbus or Ethernet or Controlnet
hany5757, Unless there is some company practice or technical regulation or standard that requires the use of hard wired signals for control of equipment such as a heavy duty gas turbine you are free to use whatever scheme is easiest to implement. MODBUS generally doesn't have controller...

IGV Control Trouble Trip
Mohamedibr752, The IGV Control Trouble Trip occurs when the difference between the actual IGV angle (CSGV) differs from the IGV reference angle (CSRGV) by more than a predetermined amount (approximately 5 DGA (DeGrees Angle)--the actual difference for any machine must be checked and...

Frame 6b Fuel Control Problem
davidmcc, Thanks for letting us know what you found!!! I am finding more and more that some hydraulic service suppliers have excellent capabilities when it comes to supplying parts or equipment that meet or exceed OEM spec's--and can even fabricate components (possibly such as bladders)...

Simulation Device for Turbine Overspeed
General, You need a frequency generator--a variable frequency AC signal-producing device. It only needs to produce about 6-10 VAC RMS, BUT it needs to produce a zero-crossing signal, not a zero-based signal (this is also known as zero DC offset). (This increases the cost, but...

L86S Auto Sync lock out alarm Problem
When did this problem start? After a maintenance outage? After the generator breaker was racked-out/racked-in? Was some other work done on the generator breaker--or the synch circuit wiring terminated in the Speedtronic turbine control panel? What other alarms (Process- and Diagnostic) are...

Gas Turbine control - Hardware Part Trip of L4
glenmorangie, THANKS VERY MUCH for clearing this up! It's one for the memory bank. There's usually a reason for everything--the hard part is finding who knows the reason. There are so few of the people who designed the Mark V left working in Salem, and things like this don't get passed on...

CO2 Purging from Generator
kermani, I've heard of sites doing this--not venting the CO2 out of the generator and maintaining a slight positive pressure. But that requires seal oil to keep the CO2 from leaking out of the generator. And, that was ONLY done when the generator wasn't going to be opened/entered for any...

Gas Turbine control - Hardware Part Trip of L4
CTLP, I don't have a TCTG card in front of me, but if I recall correctly the 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 and 4-4 relays are the small, orange relays on the TCTG card. The coils of the relays are 125 VDC coils, but the contacts of the relay are connected to the P24VR power supply (of the TCTG card) and the...

How to Change Signal Name in SpeedTronic Mark IV
Also, if there is any written documentation on this it would be in the Mark IV Maintenance Manual. I believe the manual for the Mark IV+ is GEK-83886.

How to Change Signal Name in SpeedTronic Mark IV
tokiemnhiet, If I understand the question correctly, this is something I never did, never tried to do and have never been asked before. Hmmm.... In general, I would say it's not possible. If it were possible, I would think it would only be the Mark IV+ (the ones with Intel 80286...

What Does GEK Stand for?
I believe it should mean the "document" is an instruction manual for a turbine and it's auxiliaries. Though, GE Salem used GEK for the Mark IV Maintenance Manuals. GE has a "standard" for all of the GEx documents--but it isn't always followed.
