Servo Valve Current
Isulamu, The ((REF - FDBK) * gain + bias current) is all done in software, and if the feedback is less than the reference then the term will be positive (to increase the position), and if the feedback is more than the reference then the term will be negative (to decrease the position)...

Torque Converter Filter Type
VJ, A strainer is just to catch large debris before it gets to the pump portion of the torque converter. You should be able to go to the Accessory Compartment and find the strainer enclosure underneath the electric starting motor; it's probably about 25-35 cm tall and about 20-25 cm in...

GE MS5001 Machine
VJ, The Auxiliary Hydraulic (Oil) Pump (AHOP) has been an option on GE-design Frame 5 heavy duty gas turbines for decades. Without an AHOP there is no back-up to the MHOP (Main Hydraulic (Oil) Pump). When there is no auxiliary hydraulic pump, generally the machine has to be CRANKed during...

Servo Valve Current
yaseeeen, There is no such product as a Mark IVe; there is Mark IV and Mark IV Migration, but no Mark IVe. If a valve position reference is, say, 95%, and the valve can travel to 95% without hitting a mechanical stop or -limit, and the position feedback is approximately 95%, AND all of the...

IGV Does Not Reach Minimum Operating Angle After Offline Compressor Washing
se_Iain, I'm not familiar with Hitachi machines, but you seem to be saying that there is no Accessory Gear-driven Main Hydraulic Pump, only an AC motor-driven Hydraulic Pump? Is that correct? In GE-design non-F-class heavy duty gas turbine Mark VI application code, the AC motor-driven...

Torque Converter Filter Type
All of my experience with GE-design Frame 9E heavy duty gas turbines was with units which used a Voith torque converter. I don't recall any filter in the torque converter oil circuit--a strainer, yes, but no filter. What company manufactured the torque converter(s) used on the machines at your...

9E Trip at Shutdown
Jokek, The Process Alarm is exactly, 100% correct. When transferring from Premix to Lea-Lean during a shutdown the spark plugs have to fire to re-ignite the fuel in the Primary combustion zone. If they are not inserted at the proper depth OR they are worn (and the tips of the...

Servo Valve Current
yaseeeen, +/-10 mA is a maximum range. The Mark V never really puts out more than approximately +/-8 mA, and that's called saturation current. If the Mark V is putting out saturation current then something is REALLY wrong because the device isn't moving and the feedback isn't anywhere close...

Servo Valve Current
yaseeeen, If we're talking about an electro-hydraulic servo-valve such as the type used on GE-design heavy duty gas turbines, the sevo-valve coils are generally 1000 ohms (approximately), so 10 mA through 1000 ohms equals 10 volts. You can measure the voltage "being applied" to the coil with...

Mark VI IONet N-Tron Network switch failures
badr, Thank you very much for the quality feedback! It is very much appreciated. I would check with the vortex tube manufacturer about moisture condensation. If you're using instrument air, I would imagine it's already pretty dry (or should be!). I'm sure the manufacturer makes or sells or...

Field breaker opened accidentally
pjk, No generator protection will protect the machine on low gas fuel supply pressure--unless your unit is extremely non-standard. Possibly--if the gas fuel supply pressure gets low enough for long enough--reverse power will trip the machine, but you will see load decreasing as gas...

Blade Path Temp
Daniel, Thanks you for the feedback; I'm glad to have been of help. GE-design heavy duty gas turbines don't use BPT (Blade Path Temperature) for control or monitoring, and I'm not really familiar with the concept. If you can tell us more about it, or if you can tell us which turbine you...

Field breaker opened accidentally
PJK, The low gas fuel supply pressure alarm is generally detected by a pressure switch, the setting of which is defined in the unit Device Summary drawing. Sometimes, a pressure transducer is used for the indication--and there have even been cases where both have been used for...

DCS-Mark V Communication
fnc, GSM (GE Standard Message Protocol) is a pretty simple system in that it's really just a list of Mark V CDB (Control Signal Database) signal names--no special addressing/referencing required (like with MODBUS). The GE Mark V HMI is a "slave" and the DCS is the "master" and the GE Mark V...
