SPEEDTRONIC VIe Control System
bronx9669, Could you tell us what your focus is in studying the Mark VIe control system? Are you looking for something specific, or multiple things? Are you just trying to understand the sequence of events of the gas turbine and auxiliaries? Is there some specific set of events you want to...

SPEEDTRONIC VIe Control System
bronx9669, I'm afraid I'm not quite clear what it is you're asking. If you're asking how to read/understand relay ladder logic and diagrams, well, the Mark VIe uses FBDs (Function Block Diagrams) to display what's called the 'application code'--the sequencing, or logic, for control and...

MARK IV Modbus
genersi, I don't recall any documentation about the BA screens. And to access them required a special process and password. They weren't for the "general public." I've even forgotten the password, it's been so long. (If anyone knows the password, please DO NOT publish it to this forum. It...

Mark IV GE Gas Turbine Generator Reverse Power
Hi! Reverse power means the fuel has been reduced to less than what's required to keep the turbine-generator spinning at synchronous speed--and power from the grid is coming in to the generator (real power--watts, kW, MW) to keep it and the turbine spinning at synchronous speed. That's not a...

Closing to a Dead Bus
adexgenerator, How will you re-connect the plant to the grid? Is there a means for synchronizing the plant back to the grid when the connection becomes available? Or, will you have to open the generator breakers, close the utility tie breaker, and then re-synchronize the units to the grid?

GE MS5001 Machine
VJ, I believe (though I may be wrong) that an Auxiliary Hydraulic Pump is always an option which can be purchased. At additional cost. It was probably made an option to reduce the base cost of the machine, and the purchasing department didn't realize that. As for the reliability of the...

MARK IV Modbus
genersi, Are just referring to the panel-mounted, black-and-white CRT display on the left front door of the Mark IV panel? MODBUS was an option on Mark IV panels. On early Mark IV panels, it was an option that could only be turned on by the GE factory personnel. On later Mark IV panels...

IGV Does Not Reach Minimum Operating Angle After Offline Compressor Washing
se_Iain, Hmmm.... I would really like to see the .m6b file, but if I post my email address here three things happen (none of them good). First, a LOT of people will contact me directly for help with their issues instead of posting to control.com. While I don't mind helping people, I'd rather...

IGV Does Not Reach Minimum Operating Angle After Offline Compressor Washing
se_Iain, You keep referring to the "Main Hydraulic Pump"--is that mechanically driven (from an Accessory Gear) or just the Lead pump of a lead-lag pair of AC motor-driven Aux. Hydr. Pumps? Most of the GE-design Frame 5/6 machines use a similar variable displacement, axial piston pump for both...

Closing to a Dead Bus
adexgenerator, Generally, it's possible for a GE-design Frame 9E heavy duty gas turbine-generator to close on to a dead bus. You need some relays to make sure the bus is dead, and an operator needs to choose to close on to a dead bus (with a button on the HMI to do that). Some units also...

Cold Junction Compensation in GE IC200ALG630 Thermocouple Card
Ahsan Ejaz, Are you certain the thermocouple extension wire is properly terminated along the entire length of the circuit between the PLC module and the thermocouple? Have you observed the proper T/C termination practices? Because, if you have, it's hard to understand (without a lot more...

badr, Thank you again for the great feedback--especially for including the TIL number! I would still suggest you endeavour to reduce the heat inside the compartment. The three biggest enemies of electronic components are heat, humidity and dust. The more you can reduce the heat, the more...

GE Frame-9E
muz_sindhu, You seem to be saying that you have installed more than one GE-design Frame 9E heavy duty gas turbine and commissioned them, and are now preparing them for some period of planned non-operation. Is that correct? (I don't think too many people would have experience with this, as...

IGV Does Not Reach Minimum Operating Angle After Offline Compressor Washing
se_Iain, I would REALLY like to see the .m6b file for the Mark VI of the Hitachi H-25 to be able to comment better (and just because I'm curious, as well!). Starting the lead hydraulic pump at 44% speed seems kind of a little late, because the unit should be firing by then.?.?.? And you...
