Generator selection
There's also the minor matter of speed of the Fiber Reinforced Plastic fan vs frequency. A 6-pole machine would be required for 1000 RPM @ 50 Hz. But there are a LOT of other factors to be considered as well.

Loose Contact in MARK V Control System
ankarao, There is not really enough information to be of much assistance (which is probably the reason for a lack of response) and I'm just making a presumption about what the problem might have been. The DTBA and DTBB I/O terminal boards are where discrete (contact) inputs are terminated...

Mark V 125vdc Surge Protection
daveam, Very good recommendations. Shield grounding is another of those construction practice problems that can be quite time-consuming to rectify and can cause various problems for decades. Do you believe installing some kind of surge protection on the DC power supply to the turbine...

induction generator
Rahul, This might have some answers to your questions, and some more information for how you might be planning to implement an induction generator driven by a wind turbine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_generator

Mark V 125vdc Surge Protection
Barry Thomas, I hope this thread might prompt a bigger discussion on earthing/grounding practices, and on lightning suppression in plants. Do you have data that indicates the 125 VDC experiences a spike during a lightning strike? Most of the times I've tried to capture this with a digital...

Gas Turbine humming problem
Frixos, My watch works sometimes and it doesn't work others. Sometimes it works for two minutes; sometimes it works for two hours; sometimes it works for two days. You can't see my watch. What could be the problem? How would you respond to my request for help? Would you begin by asking...

MK5make does not compile
Hmmm.... What have you changed that requires running MK5MAKE.BAT? Have you looked at the description of the various files, and their required locations, in the Mark V Maintenance Manual, GEH-5980, necessary for the "compiler" to work? There are four "assign" files in the UNIT1 directory...

DWATT alarm
0.5% high or low might cause this alarm. Fractions of a percent can make a lot of difference in Speedtronic turbine control panels when it comes to alarms (especially nuisance alarms). Precision is important in technical discussions; 100% to 99% (a 1% change) is not very precise when that...

reactive power and fuel consumption
ramona0304, This topic has been covered many times before on control.com. There is a 'Search' field at the far right of the Menu bar of every control.com page (I recommend using the 'Search' Help before searching for the best results!). Basically, Power Factor is a measure of the...

Combustion Trouble GE Frame 6B GT.
Dear saber, Another very important thing to note is that when not using OEM combustion hardware (fuel nozzles; combustion liners; transition pieces) the ability to troubleshoot DLN combustion problems is that much harder. Many companies claim to produce compatible or similar combustion...

Combustion Trouble GE Frame 6B GT.
Dear saber, When grid frequency is as unstable as you say it's very difficult to operate DLN-equipped machines reliably. VERY difficult. When the grid frequency is higher (or lower) than nominal, turbine speed--and, hence, axial compressor speed--is higher (or lower) than rated. DLN...

High vibration BB11
MAATALLAH, A typically configured generator would have two seismic (acceleration) vibration pick-ups on the turbine-end generator bearing and one on the collector end. A properly configured Mark V would have the redundant mask bit set for the generator group, and it would usually take two...

GTG 1 TRIP ON PROCESSOR _C_FROZEN
The information is unclear. It's not usually possible to trip the turbine from the <BOI>, whether <C> is communicating or not. It's presumed the <BOI> is properly configured, and most <BOI>s do not have the ability to trip the turbine because the E-Stop pushbutton is mounted very close to the...
