Gas Turbine/Diesel Engine Instrumentation

Dear All,
We wish to replace pneumatic instrumentation on our heavy diesel engine driven pumps used on Petroleum Pipelines. My question is to
users/designers/experts of gas turbine/Diesel Engine instrumentation.

The instrumentation is required to be preferably mounted directly on Engine/Gearbox/Pump. Stand a lot of vibration, high ambient temperatures
(~55 deg C), showered with heavy fuel Oil as well as Marine Lubricating oil
(occasionally).

The instrumentation required is as follows
Pressure - 0-6 Kg/cm2 max
Temperature - 0-200 Deg C (RTD)
Diff. Pressure - 0-2 Kg/cm2
Vibration - 0-25 mm/sec pk, accelerometer and directional (metrix is one
manufacturer)

All instrumentation has to be IS & 4-20 ma output fed from 24 VDC supplies. I need to know about the manufacturers/specific models preferably from 'happy' & 'satisfied' end users.

Dear Zach,

My opinion on mounting these instrumentations directly on the engine/gearbox is a bad idea. Based on my gas turbine experience, something will give way eventually, no matter how small the vibration is. Isolation is the best solution.

You should consider "remote sensor" mounting on the engine/gearbox. Not to mention is will go down easy for maintenance guys who will be doing the maintenance, mechanical or instrumention. I believe you can get relatively good brand/make in the market for your application. These day process transmitter are quite rugged, ambient~60 deg C. You might also want to consider transmitter protector hood for your application.

Good Luck!

Regards,

Ally
