Hi,
Can anyone tell me, is it possible to used cat5 STP cable instead of profibus dp cable?

Regards

You may be able to get away with it for short distances but you should use the proper cable for the communication protocol you are using. The impedence and installation of the cable can make a huge difference in communications.

NO NO NO NO NO

Bus design is not arbitrary and cables are specified for a reason. Using the wrong cable means that the signals in the bus do not get transmitted properly. A high speed communication bus of ANY kind (including ethernet and profibus) is very likely to loose information from electrical interference or losses in the signal cable if incorrect cables or installation rules are used.

You must ALWAYS follow the installation guidelines for ANY communication bus if you want reliable and consistent operation.
