ControlBuilder AC 800M can't set bits from RSView32

I can't seem to get RSView32 to set a boolean variable (set to 1) in our AC800M controllers, although I CAN reset (set to 0) boolean variables, proving that the variables, tags and links are correct. I am using RSView32 v7.4 CPR7 and Compact Controlbuilder v5.0.

I have a separate application that uses the same version of RSView32 and Control Builder M Professional v3.2/16 that does not have this problem.

Anyone else ever have this problem?
