i have a problem in my generator system.after start of genset and closing the parallel breaker after 30 second the genset be shutdown and this fault appear:
fail to meet demand

please guide me.

let me guess.

First of all were you closing the breaker on a running switch board? If this is the case you should synchronize the breaker. Not closing it.

 

"fail to meet demand" error can occur if "demand is more than supply"???

Please provide more details of generator and load & how they are connected.

 

Namatimangan08... If you are implying that Abbas' breaker closing was an out-of-phase closure, then you are wrong! The trip occurred 30 sec later!

The indication, at least to me, is that synchronizing power had not increased (faulty governor?) thus causing the trip.

I believe the delay, if precisely "30 seconds" proves the trip was "logic" generated, and not by any off-normal measurement!

But, the proof is in the alarm sequence, which only Abbas can provide!

Closing and synchronizing shall not be treated the same.

I have similar view as yours. Most likely it has something to do with sluggish fuel control valve or the problem with governing system. Or maybe something else. Let's rule out the simplest one first.

Last week my team and I helped one of our plant engineers to put on his emergency diesel generator (EDG) to feed the dead essential service board (ESB)of his plant. The plant was experienced a total blackout. The EDG failed more than 10 attempts to load the ESB. We helped him to pin point one of the reasons, namely the diesel governor control valve was not responding to the load demand. The EDG breaker was not tripped. It was brought to a standstill with its breaker in closed position. We didn't expect this to happen. But it did happen.

After about an hour of trouble shooting and testing, we managed to put on the EDG to feed the ESB. After that we left the plant since our time was up. We actually went there for some other tasks. We have to schedule our tasks due to that blackout.

We came to know that the EDG tripped off 3 hours later. This time it was clear that it tripped on earth fault. The plant technician was called to find out the source of the earth fault. I don't know what happened after that since my team and I had to leave.

Anyway what does this sentence mean? "closing the parallel breaker after 30 second the genset be shutdown". Which breaker that he was referring to? Diesel generator (DG) breaker or other breaker that is parallel to the DG?
