Grab on-board ship not closing

To All Engineers please i need help from your ideas and knowledge regarding the grab. Our grab on-board ship is not closing properly. its giving gap clearance of about 1 meter and cannot close further. please email me for some solutions to my problem. one is Hydraulic type and the other is remote control type.
