We have two gas turbine (Frame-5, 25MW) at our plant TG-701 (ISO mode) and TG-702 (Droop Mode). From last four days when a particular motor 4451 (650KW) at our plant starts TG-702 pick 1.7MW (this load is different for each startup ranges from .5 to 2.4MW) load which is a reverse action. This motor starts 6 to 7 times daily but this behaviour of picking load of Droop mode gas turbine repeats seldom (once every day).
We have larger motors of 2MW and on their startup every thing is fine. This particular motor 4451 drives a compressor.
One more observation/history which might be helpful, is that TG-702 (Droop) has 16KG/cm pressure at upstream of SRV due to chocked strainer. while on TG-701 (ISO), it is 18kg/cm. Whenever there is a slight change of load on TG-702 (droop), its SRV opens fully due to low pressure its upstream but GCV seems to work fine. No trends are available.
1)Why Droop mode GT is picking load?
2)Why TG-701 response is sluggish and other is fast to pick load (Anything related to SRV low upstream pressure)?
3)Can a particular motor creat such problem?
