How do Level and Flow sensors work? I mean the principal behind the operation of Level sensors.

Hello Sameer;
Try "www.endress.com":www.endress.com (Endress+Hauser's website) and do a search on level meaurement and flow measurement. I believe you should get all the info you need for differnt techniques.
Hope this helps,

Level and flow sensors and their principles of operation. I would search the ISA as their web site can provide a much better overview than a quick e-mail on the list.

Hi friend,
There are many kinds of level sensors. Some simple float type/Float switch. some are little more complecated. with magnetic switch. some work on the principle of capacitance. some more level sensors are based on laser, in some typical applications.

Go to "http://www.almegcontrols.com":http://www.almegcontrols.com and look at FAQ for level controls. Also - look at products, flow. The flow switch has a SPDT reed sensor inserted in the upper portion. The reed chamber is isolated from rest of the unit. A paddle (adjustable length) slides a magnet inside the body on a cam - external of the reed chamber. So - when the magnetic lines of force come in contact with the reed switch, caused by the paddle moving the magnet - it activates. It can be set to open or close the contact on detecting flow.

How do Flow sensors in petroleum domain work?
What is their principle of operation ?
Give practical examples of case in petroleum domain.

There are many types of level sensors and there are different reasons why people use certain types. Some sensors need contact with the process media , some don't. Some don't need great accuracy, some do e.g custody transfer applications

You might want to consider studying some different types ultrasonic, nuclear, capacitance, inductance, magnetic, positive displacement, radar and so on. There are things that affect each techology.

As far as your flowmeters are concerned you can read about how each type of flowmeter works at the Flowmeter Directory "www.flowmeterdirectory.com":http://www.flowmeterdirectory.com .
