What wil be the effect of using an single phase 60HZ motor on 50Hz system?

There many equipments comimg with 60 Hz only or 50HZ only. What will happen if we use vice versa? Can I know the effects on the motor? Please let me know it in technical terms, i.e. electrically how it effects and why.

 

Using 60Hz single phase motor in 50Hz line, will decrease the speed of motor to its 83% of designed speed, will overheat it and will decrease the rated power. Applying inverters, apart from their prices, add harmonics to the input line. More significant, in single phase motors, you will have problems in starting time (maybe failed).

Generally, running a 50Hz rated equipment on 60Hz is not a problem. If it is a motor, the speed would be proportionally higher. 60 Hz rated running on 50 Hz would create more heat.
