Mark VIe

Hello to all, , recently our GT was upgraded from DLN2.0 to DLN2.6 and AGP and Mark VI to Mark Vie with several OPFLEX packages. We operate the unit in EXTERNAL/REMOTE , VLP enabled with LOAD PRIORITY. We have seen that GT operates in the limit of isotherm (1200 oF) when VLP is enabled. This creates additional heat input to HRSG, increased pressures and temperatures, drives HP desuperheaters to its limits and in the same time does not allow IGV to open fully. When we disabled VLP then we saw a decrease of exhaust temperature in different loads. Do you know which control constants drive the exhaust temperature when GT is commanded above emmisisons compliance mode. Your help is requested.

Hello

Can you tell us Frame type since that OPFLEX VLP is applicable on 7F/9F frame...

What about heat balance document/System Loads studies ...i mean the integrator of such solution should /must have done implementation by taking in account about Water/steam cycle ..BOP operations GT/HRSG operations capability/limits...

Hum according to your notes ...things are not operating smoothly as it should ...

For better support we would need to check app code ...

Dear Stratford73,

To get a better picture of the issue that you mentionned...a sketch of the application code of the unit would be welcome , further to go on any adivises....

Dear Stratford73,

Would you please read that power point support on Tha Opflex operations benefits ( SEE PAGE 12)

I dont know if you already ahd a read on it but it is describing opposite things /operations on HRSG heat balances particularly when operating on VLP mode...

Something is missed in the controls philosophy or system not well tuned...

James

Here some notes from Mainova site I worked there it is first frame 6B with Opflex installed in the world and getting good results with it..:

Results

Ge unit in Frankfurt was the frst 6B gas turbine in the
world to receive OpFlex control software technologies:
AutoTune, Turndown, Variable Peak and Smart Inlet Bleed
Heat (IBH).
This Advanced Controls solution is designed to deliver broad
operational fexibility across all modes of plant operation by
expanding the operating envelope, while enabling signifcant
performance improvement.
Results
Mainova is now able to run their gas turbine at competitive
levels, leading to a more proftable position in the market.
They also now have the ability to set emissions limits
and let the turbine control maximum performance within
those limits.
One of the biggest benefts Mainova saw was the ability
to expand their emissions-compliant operating range from
60–100% load to 40–110% load.
