I am looking for a way to utilize existing equipment in a retrofit application. There are several 2 axis Mitutoyo DRO units and several single axis units on a production line. What I want to do is get the position data from each scale into the memory of a PLC 5. Any Ideas?

you have to use encoders for each shaft position measurement and configure the existing plc5 with encoder integrated card.
Then locate the shaft to zero position and view the count (which is the output of the encoder).
Then same procedure for 100% position. note down these counts values and configure it as 0-100% position of shaft in plc.
