I am new to the instrumentation industry and have learnt a lot already. I am an electronics and communications graduate who got selected in for instrumentation. I am under training since the past 8 months and have learnt the concepts of basic field instruments and plant operations (i am in the olfeins plant of a petrochemical industry)

i have learnt to trace loops and study relay logic and basic logic diagrams along with control theory.

How could i grow further? It would be very much appreciated for a new born like me to get some good tips and advice from experts out there as in how to develop and develop a good approach& attitude towards the next few months i have for the learning.

 

Rule #1 for any controls and instrumentation activities: You cannot control a process unless you understand it. When looking at basic field loops, ask yourself - "What is that loop actually doing? Why is that parameter being measured? What is done with the information?" Be prepared for a lot of inconsistencies such as "We've always done it that way" when you find out that the operators never use an
apparently critical measurement.
