My suggestion is to only use cable that is marketed as Profibus cable. It is not a good idea to try and substitute something else in with similar specs. Profibus is quite touchy about the cable you use. Worse, ALL the cable has to be EXACTLY the same. If you pick something "close" to right, it may well work. But if someone adds some true Profibus cable later all hell will break loose.

There are MANY vendors, although the obvious one to start with is Siemens. Their part numbers tend to start with 6XV1 830. You can try this link:
https://mall.automation.siemens.com...-4289-4288-1-4574-4581-4585-4587-&jumpto=4587
(This is a US-centric link; I don't know where you're at. The Siemens site is a nightmare to navigate, so I thought I direct link would be nice.)

Turck, Belden, Phoenix Contact, Leoni, Lapp, Molex/Woodhead/Brad, Lumberg, Northwire. Basically anyone in the industrial cable industry makes Profibus cable. You can also look at the Product Guide on www.profibus.com.

I've personally used Siemens, Turck, Belden, and Phoenix Contact with no problems. I have no reason to doubt the other major manufacturers.

Start here --> http://www.profibus.com/meta/productguide/
but any decent cable supplier will be able to get you the right type of cable for profibus.

NO YOU CANNOT USE ANY OLD CABLE FOR PROFIBUS. It doesn't matter what type of bus you are running, you MUST use the right cable for that bus and you must read and follow the installation rules.
