Hello, Narendrakumar;
If you use a Siemens S7 Master, the PG/PC interface will allow you to test communications on a Profibus-DP network if you have a CP5611/5511/5613 installed in your PC with adequate software. If you have a non-Siemens Master (SST card, S5, Moeller PLC...) most configurations software have disgnostic features that will allow you to check your comms (if you have a Profibus card on your PC). One example is ComProfibus, which allows online checks of all configured links.
Hope this helps,

Hi together,

there is a free Profibus analyzer available from Siemens called AMPROLYZER.
Try the link
"http://www4.ad.siemens.de/csinfo/li...jID=338386&objaction=csview&lang=en&siteid=cs":http://www4.ad.siemens.de/csinfo/li...jID=338386&objaction=csview&lang=en&siteid=cs
or search for AMPROLYZER at the A&D side from Siemens.
The software runs under 95/98 (I beleve also under 2K), but you will need a Siemens Profibus card like CP5611 or so.

Problems with finding the link - just contact me at "[email protected]", mailto:[email protected] .

Modbus is simply a protocal running of "standard" serial (232, 422 or 485) physical layer. As a result it is possible to communicate Modbus from a PC with only software by reproducing the protocal (this is Modscan). Profibus requires a custom ASIC(master) and software to accompolish the same task from a PC. Pepperl+Fuchs makes serial profibus (and parallel DeviceNet) master simulators which include the software, dongle and all necessary cables. List price is around $600.00 USD. You will already have (or need) a profibus master card You will find that most cards / adapters come with a configuration utility to configure the slaves, this can also usually test io (for DP)
if you need anything more sophisticated I suggest drawing up some quick VB screens

Linnell, Tim

The Profibus Center Nederland (in the Hague) had developed a wonderful FDL (Profibus low level protocol) test tool, when I visited them earlier this year. They were considering the commercialisation of it at that time. Not free, but very valuable to anyone developing a product using Profibus.

My contact there was Dennis Van Bouma - the details will be at the "www.profibus.com":http://www.profibus.com site.
