I am wanting to know some information regarding SCX SCADA software like what is it like to use, Support and the like?

Has anybody used this package before?

Probably a bit late for a reply, but I have used SCX for over 2 years now and it is a solid 4th generation SCADA software package, with many features and great reliability.

As a third party integrator, we have used SCX6 thoroughly and find it to be second rate, badly supported and over priced. Reliability is a major issue and basic tasks will result in crashing, i.e. 3 frame animation will hang the server.

DO NOT USE this product! Stick to tried, tested, mainstream products such as Citect, WinCC, Wonderware, RSView, etc.

BTW, the previous answer was from an SCX employee - so beware.

Dear A-List colleagues:
The benefit of this list for the past dozen years or more, has been the willingness of people to provide real, factual information.

It is to no one's benefit for "Mr. Anonymous Poster" to trash a vendor, earned or not.

If you are going to trash a vendor, put your name and contract information into the post so everybody can judge your agenda for themselves.

It might be that the moderators of control.com need to think about approving posts like these...

All the information provided is for the readers to take onboard and to help them make their own decision. I must admit "DO NOT USE this product!" may be a bit harsh but if a customer were to ask us our opinion that is the response we would give them.

Unfortunately due to one of my clients' involvement with this company I will have to remain anonymous to avoid legal action against us. Just to clarify though, "David Mountford" is in fact an employee of the SCX developers and I see a lack of company information on his message.

As I work for an independant system integrator I feel I can offer impartial advice on numerous automation products - and this is one of many packages we have developed on.

I have been involved in the deployment of 3 SCX6 SCADA systems in my current position as 'SCADA Administrator' and this is the first time I've had interaction with Serck Controls and have found the product to be nothing but solid and backed by a first class support team who seem to get any issue presented to them resolved efficently.

As for Citect... I only have two systems left and they will be gone in 6 months. (Thank goodness - no more backup, compile, redeploy databases.)

I have a problem with 3 redundant SCX6 servers (A, B, C): there are often unknown failure of servers (A and B) which is located together and the third server (C), which is remote from another two servers, gets "Main" status! That situation causes loss of view on stations, which is directly connected to A and B Servers, and I need to reboot all 3 Servers so the "MAIN" functionality returns to Server A or B. Please, contact if you have any ideas about possible reasons of that problem!!!
