We need smart pressure transmitter with HART protocol. Is HART terminal same for different manufacture? Is there master HART terminal available? Give 4 goods manufacture for Pressure and Temperature transmitter?

Virtually all smart transmitters are HART compatable. All HART devices can configured using a HART 375 Handheld or a software package from the manufacturer running on your computer with a HART modem attached to a USB port on your computer. In order to communicate and configure properly your handheld or computer must have the DD (Device Driver) for the device you are trying to set up. These DD's are usually available from the manufacturer website or the HART Foundation.

 

No the HART terminals are not all the same however you can usually read the main parameters. If you are buying a lot of transmitters sometimes the vendor will include a HART terminal. Foxboro, Yokogawa, Rosemount, ABB. Note there are lots more good ones and my list is in no special order.

There are over 250 vendors of HART devices. The canonical list is at www.hartcomm.org. There are several ways to communicate with HART devices, including wirelessly. The HART foundation website, above, will give you more information than you probably want.

I would say that the HART terminals ARE all the same. HART is a standard protocol

However, the devices from different manufacturers are different. Devices have different capabilities: e.g. different diagnostics etc.

The HART protocol allows manufacturers to create "specific commands" to support the unique capabilities of their devices. This is over and above the "universal commands" and "common practice commands" for standard functionality.

The specific commands are declared by the device manufacturer using EDDL (www.eddl.org) (formerly known as DD) as pointed out in the other post. Since all leading DCS today support EDDL they can access all functionality in the device (universal, common practice, and specific). That is, HART in conjunction with EDDL provides complete interoperability.

The HART universal and common practice commands with support for specific commands is the HART standard application layer (IEC 61784-1 CPF 9, IEC 61158 Type 20) trusted by users and manufacturers alike. Somebody mentioned WirelessHART - which uses the same application layer to ensure easy integration and full interoperability.

Hi,

HART PT & TTs are available with most of the transmitter manufacturer like Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB etc. HART Terminal avialable with all of them. This is the Universal Protocal hence HART transmitter can communicate with any manufacturer of HART terminal
